Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors      Robin Hobb is pretty much my favourite author. Her Realm of the Elderlings is a series very close to my heart. I first read Assassin’s Apprentice way back in 1999 and it has stayed with me ever since. I return to the series every couple of years – it is a total comfort read for me (even though the books are more than a little angst-laden). Fitz and the Fool are my favourite literary characters ever. George R.R. Martin is the man to go to when you want really gritty fantasy. If anyone hasn’t heard of Game […]

Read Play Blog #13 & #14

Read Play Blog is a meme about video games and books, posted every 16th of the month. Bloggers are encouraged to answer a discussion question, and recommend a video game that is similar to a book they liked. Hosted by Happy Indulgence Books & Read Me Away. I missed last month’s topic due to my unplanned blogging hiatus so I have decided to do a catch-up this month. What geek conventions would you like to attend? I haven’t actually attended any conventions at all. I would really love to attend them but it just isn’t feasible for the foreseeable future. There are loads I would love to attend though, the main ones being: San Diego Comic-Con – who wouldn’t love to […]

Top Ten Authors I’ve Read The Most Books From

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Authors I’ve Read The Most Books From 1. Enid Blyton A whopping 75 books (the vast majority of these were read during my adolescence) I read a lot of Enid Blyton books as a kid. The Famous Five, Malory Towers, the Naughtiest Girl… I was pretty much all over them. I had a huge collection of first and second editions of a lot of these series too (I gave them away to a cousin of mine when I got older but I really wish I had kept onto them). I loved getting caught up in the adventure of these stories but […]

Top Ten Fairytale Retellings I Want To Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is: Top Ten Fairytale Retellings I Want To Read Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge A retelling of Beauty and the Beast (one of my all-time favourite fairy tales); I have had Cruel Beauty sitting on my shelf for way too long. The Glass Casket by Maureen Templeman This book has been on my radar for a while but I go back and forth on reading it. It does look like an interesting spin on the Snow White story so I think I will need to get to it soon. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas I have it on good authority that this is […]

Mid-Year Book Freakout: 2015 Edition

The Mid-year Book Freakout was a survey/tag I took part in last year and I really wanted to do it again this year! It was created by the lovely ladies at A Book So Fathomless. I had a lot of fun with this last year so I knew that if it surfaced again this year I was definitely going to take part again. So, without any further ado, here are my answers! 1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2015 I am really torn between Uprooted by Naomi Novik, A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas or The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh. I loved all of them so much. But… if I have got to pick just […]
