stacking the shelves bookish haul

Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality

what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul

If I’m being totally honest, it was too hot to do much of anything this week. A heatwave hit the UK (hard!) and it has been sweltering for most of the week. It’s back to rain today but it is still almost overbearingly hot. 🥵

So, I’m sitting here (still in my pj’s!) trying to stay cool with two fans going and plenty of cold drinks. It’s a hard life, but someone’s gotta do it… 😉

weekly bookish purchases

stacking the shelves book haul week 171

Sanctuary by V.V. James | Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I love Carry On so much I just had to buy the newly released paperback featuring the gorgeous artwork by Kevin Wada (even though I already own the US edition with the artwork – though it has a slightly different presentation…so it’s totally different!) I’m also really happy to add Sanctuary to my shelves.

Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb | Ship of Destiny by Robin Hobb | The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb | The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore by Joan Lowery Nixon

I managed to track down a (secondhand) set of the Liveship Traders trilogy by Robin Hobb featuring the original U.K. artwork – I’m super-happy with them! I also got this Freeway edition of The Kidnapping of Christine Lattimore by Joan Lowery Nixon – I don’t know whether the cover repulses me or not… 😉

More Than Anything by Natasha Anders | Wakenhyrst by Michelle Paver | A Place Called Winter by Patrick Gale

A couple of very different genres on offer here! I’m really intrigued by Wakenhyrst and A Place Called Winter sounds really amazing. I read More Than Anything a couple of days ago and enjoyed it.

freebies

Silver by Cheree Alsop | Painting in the Rain by Dev Bentham | Conquests: Hearts Rule Kingdoms by Emily Murdoch

I think I went a bit mad with freebie this week… I meant to try and not get quite so many (because it takes an age to do these posts if I do!) but I never listen to myself (or anyone else really…) 😉
