As part of the above challenge, Cayce made September LIST Month – whereby participants in the challenge can list (post about) their Favourite LGBT YA.

Anyone who regularly frequents this blog will be well-aware that I adore making lists! I decided that I would choose the topic:

Top 10 LGBT YA books I have read this year

Tristant and Elijah by Jennifer Lavoie

I really loved the mystery element to the story in this book (perhaps even more than the central love story). I am a sucker for all things historical and it was a fascinating look into what attitudes were like in the not-so-distant past.

Fan Art by Sarah Tregay

This was such a sweet read – I finished the book with a huge smile on my face! It was a pretty simple tale but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable for me (and I am usually the queen of angst too!)

Adaptation by Malinda Lo

I really enjoyed this book – I love dystopian settings and this had a slightly different spin (aliens!). It was a really enjoyable read and I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

Social Skills by Sara Alva

I loved Connor – the main character. He was so awkward and shy. He reminded me a lot of myself so I couldn’t help but root for him and was so happy when he started to gain confidence.

Falling from the Sky by Nikki Godwin

I adored Micah – he was the sweetest thing ever! I wanted to wrap him up in a big hug and tell him everything was going to be alright. This was a really lovely story.

five

Us Three by Mia Kerick

I wasn’t so sure about the premise of this book – a YA ménage story? I didn’t see how it would work. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I came to like the three main characters. Definitely a worthwhile read.

four

Secret by Brigid Kemmerer

Nick’s story – finally!! I really loved getting Nick’s perspective. He has always been the most elusive of the Merrick brother’s so it was amazing to finally get insight into his character. That his love interest was a guy was just icing on the cake really.

three

The Red Sheet by Mia Kerick

3

I adored this story – even if it hit me right in the feels. A very powerful tale about bullying and second chances – I would highly recommend it.

How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis

This book had me laughing so much! It was a delightful story and it was good to read a relatively angst-free LGBT book for a change!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

I love this book. It completely captivated me and Ari and Dante stole away with my heart. Definitely my top LGBT read of the year (likely the top read of all genres I have read in 2014 really!)
