Top Ten Books About Friendship:

friendship

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta: I love the friendship that sprung up between Francesca, Justine, Tara, Siobhan, Thomas (Tom), and Jimmy. So wonderfully realistic.

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian: The friendship between Lillia, Kat, and Mary may have started with revenge in mind but I really liked how close these girls got and how they had each other’s backs.

The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton: A childhood favourite – love all the boys.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell: Cath and Reagan’s bond was great, especially considering the fact that Levi was a potential hazard to their friendship.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: An example of friendships becoming toxic but I still felt the book had a powerful message.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater: Gansey, Adam, Noah, and Ronan (plus Blue) – love all of them!

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta: Whether it was the kids in the past or the ones in the present, I really loved the friendships between the characters.

Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling: Harry, Ron, and Hermione – what more can I say about this trio of friends?

Know Not Why by Hannah Johnson: I like MC Howie’s existing group of friends but I loved his new co-worker friends even more!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead: Rose and Lissa – a power friendship if there ever was one.

  1. Agreeing with the comment above- although I haven’t read the Raven Boys yet, I recently purchased it and am excited to start! And you’re right about Fangirl- it was nice to see two female characters who had a mutual love interest that didn’t destroy their friendship!.

    • The Raven Boys is an amazing book – think you will like it!

I really liked that about Fangirl – usually the guy just completely gets in the way of any friendships so it was nice to see it work out differently. 🙂

  2. As a self-proclaimed Melina Marchetta stalker, I failed as a book worm to include On the Jellicoe Road on my list of books about friendship.

Someone should strip me of my fan club card.
