Top Ten Books I Want To Reread
I am what you could class a serial re-reader! I love to reread books. Whenever I find a new favourite, you can bet I usually start from the beginning again and read it again from scratch. When I feel the need to be comforted or cheered up, I reach for ye olde favourites again.
That being said, there are some types of books I reread more than others. I tend to reread fantasy novels a lot (probably in part because you can miss so much the first time round) and YA Contemporary is another kind of read I like to revisit on a regular basis.
I am in the middle of a reading slump presently (it’s awful) and I feel like rereading some of my all-time favourites to get me back into reading again. This topic actually just came around at the perfect time – I have been thinking a lot about what books I would like to reread lately so they are pretty fresh in my mind!
Here are the books I have been considering rereading (I have cheated a little and bunched series together!):
Doctrine of Labyrinths series by Sarah Monette
One of the best fantasy series I have read – period. I have been having a hankering to read this again as it has been a few years now. Mildmay calls to me (dear Milly-Fox!)
Lumatere Chronicles series by Melina Marchetta
I adored this series but I felt I really rushed through it the first time I read it. I would like to reread and take my time with it this time round.
Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore
I have read the whole series (Graceling and Fire twice to be exact but only once for Bitterblue) but not one after the other. Think it would be interesting to read them again in sequence.
The Nightrunner Series by Lynn Flewelling
It has been a good few years since I read this series and I miss Seregil and Alec. I haven’t read the two latest (and final *sob*) books in the series but I think it would be a good idea to reread the earlier books again before diving into the newer books.
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
After finishing Blue Lily, Lily Blue I actually do feel a bit blue (geddit?) and need another Stiefvater book to feed my fix. I adored this book first time round and I would definitely enjoy a reread.
The Edge series by Ilona Andrews
This was the first Ilona Andrews series I ever read and although the Kate Daniels series is the bestest ever – this series was absolutely brilliant too and deserves a proper reread.
To Serve Them All My Days by R.F. Delderfield
This was one of my favourite books as a teenager though I haven’t read it in a number of years. I purchased it again awhile back (it has been out of print for a number of years and I had lost my original copy) and I have been promising myself that I would read it again soon.
Warchild series by Karin Lowachee
This is an incredibly powerful series. It is difficult to read (because it is so heart-breaking) but it is a wonderful story with some truly unforgettable characters. I must read this series again – soon.
Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
This is such an amazingly descriptive read. I really felt like I was there with the protagonist, experiencing the beauty and culture of Central America. I want to feel that sense of wonder again.
Wildwood series by Juliet Marillier
It has been a few years since I have read this series. I make it a point to reread Juliet Marillier books on a regular basis and this is the one series I haven’t yet gotten round to as yet. I am really looking forward to getting swept up again – as with all of Marillier’s books this series is pure magic.
