Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is:

Top Ten Books To Read To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Halloween is just around the corner. Skeletons will be after you! Witches cats and big, black bats, ghosts and goblins too… Seriously though, I often used to wish I lived in America. They make Halloween look so fun! It just wasn’t the same in the UK. 🙁

Nevermind, there are plenty of other ways to get into the Halloween spirit. Reading a scary book will do just the trick!

Books I have read and recommend:

read

| Nevermore by Kelly Creagh | Night Beach by Kirsty Eagar | The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd | Paper Valentine by Brenna Yovanoff | The Shattering by Karen Healey |

Books I haven’t read yet but I want to:

want to read

| Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake | Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff | The Fall by Bethany Griffin | Of Metal and Wishes by Sarah Fine | The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson |

This week’s theme actually covered books and movies but I did a very similar post just last week about my favourite scary films to watch around Halloween and I really didn’t want to bore you guys with more suggestions. 😉 To see this post click here.

Enjoy!!

    • Yeah, I have heard some mixed reviews as well which is a bit disappointing – it has such an awesome premise.

Love your movie choices – Hocus Pocus was a favourite of mine as a kid and I loooove Edward Scissorhands. Rocky Horror is such a fun film also. <3

  1. I really liked Nevermore and Anna Dressed in Blood. And Of Metal and Wishes looks fantastic. Nice spooky post, and that jack o’lantern gif…ahhhh!!

    • Nevermore was awesome. I really need to read the second book. Anna Dressed in Blood is sitting on my Kindle – I must read it soon. 🙂

I can’t wait to read Of Metal and Wishes. It looks so creepy!

      Lol – it’s pretty scary isn’t it?

  2. Paper Valentine was good! I’ve never thought of Nevermore as a ghostly/scary read but that’s probably because I was focused more on the romance. Great list!

    • I really love that cover for Paper Valentine – the UK version isn’t nearly as pretty unfortunately.

Awesome list – I completely forgot about This is Not a Test!! I thought I was immune to getting freaked out over zombie stuff (I read and watch a lot about zombies so have a pretty high tolerance) until I read The is Not a Test! 😀

    • I’ve been to Canada! Got family in Vancouver. 🙂

No you’re right – there is a lot of spooky stuff you can do in the UK when you are a bit older. My sister-in-law did a shut-in at Mary King’s Close in Edinburgh a few years ago with friends from work. There was a medium with them and the idea was that they would be down there from midnight to 6am. They lasted about an hour and a half lol. She isn’t the easily spooked type but they all felt like someone was watching them and two of them actually fainted. She said she would never do a ghost walk or anything remotely similar ever again. 😉

There is very little to do when you are a kid though. Most folks used to get grouchy if you knocked on their door. 🙂
