Books Added to my TBR and Forgotten

Oh lordy, if ever there was a Top Ten Tuesday Topic aimed solely at me, this one would be it! I am so bad at adding and acquiring books that promptly get forgotten about. I don’t intend to do it, by any means, but I seem to have a desperate need to buy certain books and then just… don’t read them.

As per usual, I am a day late with this post as I didn’t get a chance to do this yesterday. I did consider just skipping this week’s topic but since it just seems so tailor-made for me, I just couldn’t let this one slip past me!

I decided to spin it a little bit (just a little, mind you) and list the books that have been sitting on my TBR list the longest.

1. Wicked as they Come by Delilah S. Dawson

wicked

This one has the honour of being the very first listed book on my Goodreads ‘want to read’ shelf! I think I added it (and bought it) around about 2012 or so… which is really pretty scary when you think about it. I’m not sure why I haven’t read it yet.

2. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

under

I bought this book so long ago (and also the other two books in the trilogy when they were each released) yet it still remains unread on my bookshelf. I don’t know if it’s because the YA dystopian genre got a bit too much for me (there were a LOT of these released around about the same time after the success of The Hunger Games trilogy). Either way, another forgotten book.

3. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

shatter

I know, I know… this book series is very popular but that hasn’t really been much of a motivator to get me to finally read it! I’ve heard a lot of good things and it sounds like something I would enjoy so it’s a bit of a puzzler why I have gotten around to this series yet. I will… at some point. 😉

4. Partials by Dan Wells

partials

I bought this one on a whim which doesn’t always prove to be a great idea! It has sat on my shelf for years and years. Again, it’s another dystopian YA book which I really don’t seem to read anymore. Maybe the urge will take me at some point but it isn’t looking too likely at the moment…

5. The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

immortal

A dystopian / vampire book – both genres which seemed to have more or less had their day. I bought this years ago but never got round to starting it. I also bought and attempted to read The Iron Fey Series by the same author and struggled to get into it and put them aside so there probably isn’t much chance of me getting to this series.

6. Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

grave

I’m not sure why I haven’t read this one – it actually sounds like my kind of book! I love books about assassins and it gets really great reviews so you would think I would have made it a priority. Nope. 😀

7. Eon by Alison Goodman

eon

I have heard so many great things about this duology and I really do want to read it but it has sat gathering dust on my shelves since I bought it (must have been 2012 / 2013 or thereabouts). I really suck sometimes… 🙁

8. Delirium by Lauren Oliver

delirium

Oh look, another dystopian YA book (seeing a theme here?) I’ve read some of the author’s other works, and enjoyed them, but still haven’t gotten around to reading this one (despite owning all the books). One day, maybe…

9. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

daughter

I really don’t know why this one has sat untouched on my shelves for so long (I bought it when it first came out) because it’s another book that looks like something I would genuinely love. However, it too graces the pile of forgotten books I have strewn everywhere. Such a shame…

10. For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund

darkness

I was initially attracted to this book because of the pretty cover but the blurb sounded really intriguing as well. So why haven’t I read it yet? Who the heck knows! I am a mystery even to myself at times. 😉
