Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsReading Reality

what I have been up to: books galore!

I’ve been living the quiet life over the last couple of weeks unless you count all the books I have been buying recently. I’ve definitely gone on a bit of splurge (so much for my books buying ban huh?) 😉 Nevermind, I can’t feel too badly about it when I have acquired so many fantastic reads!

Otherwise, the only other thing I have been doing is catching up with films at the cinema. Saw Black Panther (excellent), Red Sparrow (eh), and Unsane (really bloody creepy!) Overall, a good couple of weeks!

books bought:

trick books

Trick by Natalia Jaster | Goodreads

I actually saw artwork for this book by the awesome Noverantale which got me really curious about this book and series. I bought Trick a couple of days ago and I am so glad that I did because this book is just spectacular! Totally fell in love with Poet and Briar. I’m already on book two!

dare books

Dare by Natalia Jaster | Goodreads

…and the aforementioned book two! Dare is already shaping up to be just as good as Trick. Jeryn hasn’t captured my heart (yet) like Poet did in the first book but I adore Flare already! I’m so glad I found these books!

touch books

Touch by Natalia Jaster | Goodreads

After I read Trick I knew I had to buy Touch as well. I love finding awesome new (to me) writers and this book definitely looks like a Brin book!

forget me not books

Forget Me Not by Brooke Blaine | Goodreads

This book caught my eye right away. The story looks really interesting and I am a sucker for a sweet romance with a good bit of angst flung into the mix!

remember me when books

Remember Me When by Brooke Blaine | Goodreads

Remember Me When is the second part of this duology. I can’t wait to read this two-part series. It looks like something I will really enjoy.

abroad book one books

Abroad: Book One by Liz Jacobs | Goodreads

I am loving the cover for this! It’s great to find books set in the UK and I think this is something I will really enjoy.

christmas at the wellands books

Christmas at the Wellands by Liz Jacobs | Goodreads

I picked this up at the same time as Abroad. I can never resist a freebie and it looks like a sweet story. I’m really looking forward to reading it.

bellamy and the brute books

Bellamy and the Brute by Alicia Michaels | Goodreads

Another freebie! Bellamy and the Brute is definitely intriguing-sounding. I’m a sucker for fairytale retellings and this looks like an interesting take on Beauty and the Beast.

i'll be gone in the dark books

I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara | Goodreads

I may have mentioned a time or two that I love true-crime. I love watching documentaries about serial killers and love finding a good mystery to sink my teeth into.

This is a bit of a pet case of mine. The Original Night Stalker / East Area Rapist (renamed by the author as the Golden State Killer) is a criminal that has eluded authorities for over 40 years. I would love to see this rapist / murderer caught.

The author tragically died before completing the book and it was finished off by one of her researchers. I have been eagerly waiting for it coming out for ages. Hopefully it will draw more attention to this shocking case.

loving noah books

Loving Noah by Kenna Knight | Goodreads

I rather liked the look of Loving Noah (friends to lovers is a favourite trope of mine). Although the execution wasn’t as great as I hoped it would be, this was still a really sweet story and I did enjoy it.

monstrous affections books

Monstrous Affections: An Anthology of Beastly Tales by Kelly Link | Goodreads

I’m not gonna lie, I bought this just to get the Sarah Rees Brennan story! I loved getting to see Luke’s perspective after reading and loving In Other Worlds. The rest of the stories also look amazing too.

teeth books

Teeth by Hannah Moskowitz | Goodreads

I already own this book on Kindle but it is one of my all-time favourites and I have been  wanting to buy a physical copy for a long time. I finally caved! 😉

the adventures of charls books

The Adventures of Charls, the Veretian Cloth Merchant | Goodreads

I could have scorn that I had already bought this but on a recent re-read of the series but I realized I actually hadn’t. Well, I had to make up for this oversight!

the darkest part of the forext books

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black | Goodreads

I was super-lucky to be granted an ARC for this several years ago and I loved it. I wanted to buy a copy to own though so naturally I thought it was past time I treated myself. 😉

the ends of the world books

The Ends of the World by Maggie Hall | Goodreads

Books one and two have been sitting on my shelf for quite some time but I have been putting off reading them until the trilogy was complete. Now all the books are out, I really do not have any excuse!

the gentleman's guide to vice and virtue books

The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee | Goodreads

I loved this book so much that I had to treat myself to the hardback. This is such a great read – I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough.

the demon's lexicon books

The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan | Goodreads

Another re-buy but I wanted this on Kindle as well. It’s been awhile since I read this book but I do remember really enjoying it back in the day so a re-read is definitely in order!

the demon's covenant books

The Demon’s Covenant by Sarah Rees Brennan | Goodreads

I never actually got round to reading the rest of this series though so I definitely need to get on that! I love the author’s style of writing so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in!

the demon's surrender books

The Demon’s Surrender by Sarah Rees Brennan | Goodreads

As above, I haven’t read this yet but I’m definitely looking forward to it. I remember Alan being one of my favourite characters so it will be good to see him get a bit more focus. Sin is also another intriguing character so I’m looking forward to her perspective.

in other lands books

In Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan | Goodreads

This book guys… it’s just so amazing! I bought it for Kindle but I had to own the hardback as it has become a firm favourite of mine. Seriously, read this book!

memory books

Memory by Margaret Mahy | Goodreads

Memory appeared in this month’s Prudence and the crow box – super-psyched! I loved Margaret Mahy when I was a teen. Isn’t this cover a trip?

state of sorrow books

State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury | Goodreads

So excited to read State of Sorrow so was really happy to get it in a book box! Look at the pretty… 😉

the wicked deep books

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw | Goodreads

I have an ARC for this but who can resist a gorgeous physical copy? Not me that’s for sure!! Isn’t the cover pretty?

Hi Brin, “Remember Me When” is my favorite one. I also can’t wait to read the second part of it. Thanks for sharing your blog.
