Brin’s Book Buzz: April

I, for one, am really happy that March is finally over and done with. It wasn’t the best month for a lot of reasons (of which I am not going to bore you with the details here). April is finally here and I am pretty darn excited about some of the shiny new releases that are out this month!

I have absolutely no doubts that I will be broke again this month – there are just too many awesome books coming out! Beware – this is a very long post!!

I Am Her Revenge by Meredith Moore

This looks like an interesting novel. The main character Meredith has been trained all of her life to exact revenge on a man who wronged her mother. To do this she must target the man’s son and make him fall in love with her. This sounds like it could be a decent thriller.

Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I was approved for ARC for this book so I know how fantastic it is! It is my first 5 star read of the year. It is such a great book with such awesome and adorable characters who will charm the pants off you. I am already excited to read it again!

Lies I Told by Michelle Zink

This looks like it could be quite an interesting story. A girl grows up in a family of con artists – but one heist goes spectacularly wrong. This could be either really great or really terrible depending on the execution. It is something I would like to try though.

None of The Above by I.W. Gregorio

I am really excited for this book about a girl who discovers she was born intersex. I think it has all the trappings of being a powerful and emotional juggernaut of a book.

Empire of Night by Kelley Armstrong

It’s Kelley Armstrong so of course I am going to be excited about this book (despite the fact I have not read the first book yet, shhh – don’t tell anyone). It looks awesome anyway – I love fantasy and urban fantasy and no one does it better than Kelley Armstrong!

The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things by Ann Aguirre

I have yet to read an Ann Aguirre book (I know, what rock have I been hiding under?) and this book looks like a great place to start. It looks like a pretty solid romance novel.

All the Rage by Courtney Summers

A new Courtney Summers book? Let the flailing and fangirling begin! Seriously, there is no need for me to even read the blurb for this – the author is one of my absolute favourites and I know she will deliver a hard-hitting and awesome book.

Dream a Little Dream by Kerstin Gier

I have heard a lot of great things about this author’s previous trilogy but this one appeals to me even more. The dream aspect sounds intriguing and I am really looking forward to getting my hands on this!

Finding Paris by Joy Preble

I like books that contain journeys and the fact that the main character in this is searching for her lost sister definitely has caught my attention. I will definitely be checking this out.

99 Days by Katie Cotugno

This book definitely caught my attention but I’m not sure yet whether it was for the right reasons. The main character has cheated on her boyfriend with his brother and I am not sure if I could get past that (cheating is a big no for me).

Words cannot actually adequately convey just how excited I am for this book. It just looks so awesome! All the positive reviews I have seen so far have only gotten me even more giddy with anticipation!

The Shattered Court by M.J. Scott

This looks like a really promising start to what I hope could become an epic fantasy series! It sounds incredible and the cover is just so gorgeous! I really can’t wait to read this.

Magnolia by Maria Dahvana Headley

This only recently came to my attention but what I have read about it so far makes me think it definitely is something I would really enjoy. I love the fantasy trope of a person travelling between worlds so this book is definitely one I want to read ASAP.

A Magic Dark and Bright by Jenny Adams Perinovic

I love books with paranormal/ghost themes and this one looks like it will really deliver on that front! The synopsis sounds really awesome and I will definitely be reading this.

The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver

This sounds really awesome. I love stories with twins and one twin taking another’s identity so this looks pretty promising. The synopsis reminds me a little of a book I read in my teens called Twins by Caroline B. Cooney. Hopefully I will enjoy this book as much as I did Twins!

Rook by Sharon Cameron

I have never been able to resist a dystopian and this one sounds like a thrilling read. It is definitely on my radar and I will likely be picking it up as soon as it is released!

In A World Just Right by Jen Brooks

This only very recently came to my attention (like, literally today!) but it definitely intrigues me. I like the idea of someone creating a fantasy world that then starts merging with the real one.

Lying Out Loud by Kody Keplinger

A companion novel to The Duff (which I confess I haven’t read yet, I know, I know – shame on me!) this looks like a pretty good story on its own merit.

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey

I actually have an ARC for this book which I really need to read. It looks like the start of a really interesting fantasy series – and I do enjoy me a bit of fantasy!

I haven’t read the first book in her new series yet and I am already contemplating buying the new book when it is out lol. 😉

I know what you mean though – it took me a while to read all of the Otherworld books. 🙂

Glad to hear you enjoyed Dream a Little Dream – it does look like it will be an awesome series. 😀
