Brin’s Book Buzz: June
We have now reached the halfway point in the year (I really can’t believe how quickly this year has gone!) and June has some amazing releases. June is also my favourite month of the year due in large part to my birthday being in June but also because we are heading to the longest day and (hopefully) some nice, balmy, summer weather.
I will also have my first holiday since the start of the year (I had used up all my annual leave at work and only got it back this month) and I am really looking forward to some time off. What better way to pass the time than with some awesome new releases?
**2nd June 2015**
The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler
I love Sarah Ockler’s writing so this book is a must for me. Plus, it’s always great when there is diversity in books. I have an ARC for this so look out for my review.
Buzzworthy Scale:
More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
This book looks so good! I have been waiting anxiously for it to be released and I will definitely be buying it in time for my week off work. Perfect summer reading material!
Buzzworthy Scale:
The Devil You Know by Trish Doller
This book looks intriguing. I haven’t actually hard too much about it but the buzz I have been seeing on other blogs definitely makes me feel that this is a book I would enjoy.
Buzzworthy Scale:
The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
This looks like a fantastic read and something that I will really enjoy. Fantasy is my favourite genre and I really enjoy historical novels too so this looks right up my street. I am always excited for new authors to try as well.

The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent
I am really super-excited for this book! I adore Rachel Vincent – her Soul Screamer series is one of my all-time favourites. I have an ARC and just started reading this. I am not very far into it but I am loving what I have read so far!
Buzzworthy Scale:
Even When You Lie to Me by Jessica Alcott
This is actually the first time I am hearing about this book (not sure how it escaped my attention) but it really looks like an interesting read with a taboo subject matter which is always intriguing. One to watch out for.
Buzzworthy Scale:
The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes
This looks really, really good. I love the title (I am a sucker for rhyming!) and the synopsis sounds amazing. The overwhelmingly positive reviews just reinforces my opinion that this is a book that could really knock my socks off.
Buzzworthy Scale:
Last Years Mistake by Gina Ciocca
I am not too sure about this one. Some folks seem to like it and others really don’t so I think it could be a bit polarizing. I will probably still read it but I am not in any particular rush.

Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
I have OCD myself, although not Pure O, so this book is definitely one I am interested in. I have also been wanting to try this author for a while and this looks like a good place to start.
Buzzworthy Scale:
Get Dirty by Gretchen McNeil
This is the follow up to Get Even which I haven’t read yet but is definitely on my list of books to read soon. This looks like a pretty solid follow-up.
Buzzworthy Scale:
Between the Notes by Sharon Huss Roat
This looks pretty interesting even if the concept of riches to rags has been done before (many, many, times). I will pick this up but there are other books that are more of a priority.
Buzzworthy Scale:
The Night We Said Yes by Lauren Gibaldi
This book was one I had noticed but wasn’t particularly excited about. However, some rave reviews have definitely piqued my interest and I am looking at this one with new eyes. It looks pretty promising after all…

Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway
This looks like a really good read. The premise is really interesting and looks like it could deliver quite a bit of angst which I do so love.
Buzzworthy Scale:
The Leveller by Julia Durango
This looks really interesting to a gamer such as myself! It definitely has a rather unique premise. I have gotten a little sick of dystopians lately but this one really does intrigue me.

So, that is my list of new releases I am excited for this month. I didn’t include anything for the 30th of June because there wasn’t much out as far as I could see. What about you guys? What releases are you excited for? Is there anything I should be checking out or have missed off from this list? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂

On another note, I have decided to retire this feature. I have had a lot of fun with it but I have gotten a little burned out and I am brainstorming a new feature to challenge myself a bit more. I will likely not lose the Book Buzz part altogether, I will probably incorporate into my wrap-up posts which I want to expand into a looking forward into the next month as well.
I have had fun with these posts and I hope they have been entertaining and informative (or a least diverting enough). So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night!

The Witch Hunter caught my eye as well. I love fantasy, and witches have always been a draw. I look forward to seeing if it’s as good as it looks/sounds.
I hope so too – it’s so disappointing when a book doesn’t live up to its potential. 🙂
I am looking forward to Emmy & Oliver too!
Emmy & Oliver does look amazing. I am really looking forward to reading it. 🙂
