what I have been up to
Happy burzeltag to me! I learned today that burzeltag is slang in German for happy birthday – who knew?! I also learned that I share a birthday with Alan M. Turing, Alfred Kinsey, Joel Edgerton, and Selma Blair. Not bad company to be in if I do say so myself. 😉
Song of the day: Happy Birthday by Altered States
I have had the last couple of days off and it’s been pretty great. Went to see Ocean’s 8 which was a lot better than I expected it to me. Also went out for an amazing early birthday tea at Frankie and Benny’s – tried their new Vegan Beet Burger which was delish. Yesterday, I had my favourite breakfast made for me (French Toast – yum!) and picked up my new glasses. Had a very lazy day reading, watching telly and playing games. Totally chilled out which was just what I needed, to be honest.
Today I woke up to a pile of presents (thanks baby!) and I’m going out for another birthday dinner later. Totally spoiled rotten is what I am. 😉

The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald | The Princess and Curdie by George MacDonald | The Whispering Mountain by Joan Aiken | The Dying of the Light by Jan Kenneth
I remember owning this particular edition of ‘The Princess and the Goblin’ when I was younger but I have no idea what happened to it. Lost to time, I guess… I was also really chuffed to get this Joan Aiken book in this month’s Prudence and the Crow box! ‘The Dying of the Light’ is the very last book I needed to get in the ‘Sweet Goodbyes’ series which appeared this morning AFTER I’d taken the first picture – typical. 🤣

Fourteen Summers by Quinn Anderson | Final Girls by Riley Sager | Open Road by M.J. O’Shea
I really fancied reading ‘Fourteen Summers’ and I have a definite lack of impulse control so of course I added it to me shelves this week! I also picked ‘Final Girls’ and ‘Open Road’ and both look really good.
