Characters I’d Love An Update On

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is a freebie so I’ve decided to go back to this topic that was up a fortnight ago (because I missed it then but it seems like a fun prompt!)

Characters are what make a book for me and there are so many that have their stories seemingly over but I’m left still wanting more. I would love a chance to check back in on some of them!! There are of course certain characters I adore whose stories are definitively over, i.e. Fitz and the Fool from Robin Hobb’s epic Realm of the Elderlings series, so they have not been included as much I would dearly love to…

Here are some characters (I’ve cheated and listed two per book/series because why the heck not??) I would love to have an update on:

characters

1. Simon and Baz from Rainbow Rowell’s Simon Snow trilogy

I know this one is kind-of a cheat considering the series only technically ended this year but I am always hungry for more Simon and Baz (especially Baz!) I would dearly love to catch up with them both.

2. Andrew and Neil from Nora Sakavic’s All For the Game trilogy

This trilogy is one of my absolute favourites! I read it several years ago and I make it a point to re-read at least a couple of times a year. That is how much I adore the Foxes, especially Andrew and Neil.

characters

3. Jude and Cardan from Holly Black’s Folk of the Air series

I just finished a re-read of this series and its accompanying novellas and though we kind-of already did get a chance to catch up this pair in How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories I would never turn down a chance to get an additional update because I love this ruthless pair!

4. Adrian and Sydney from Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series

Although both characters featured pretty heavily in Vampire Academy, it wasn’t until the Bloodlines series that they really got a chance to shine. I miss them – especially Adrian – and would love a chance to see more of them.

characters

5. Kaylee and Tod from Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series

I absolutely adore Kaylee and Tod and I think I could stand to have an update on how their lives (well, afterlives since one is a reaper and the other a reclamations agent) are going. They are still one of my all-time favourite YA pairings so getting more time/content would be amazing…

6. Jos Musey and Evan D’Silva from Karin Lowachee’s Warchild series

This series is one of my absolute favourites and it has been too long since there has been any new content (Omake notwithstanding) but the good news is there are at least two new books coming (I think one is next year?) so I will get to see these characters again.

characters

7. Damen and Laurent from C.S. Pacat’s Captive Prince trilogy

I shouldn’t like this series and the main characters Damen and Laurent as much as I do and yet… I can’t help but adore both of them! I would love to spend a little bit more time in their company (would never be bored!)

8. Magnus and Cleo from Morgan Rhodes’ Falling Kingdoms series

Magnus and Cleo both managed to steal my heart and I was so happy when they ended up together (and happy!) I would love to catch up with this pair.

characters

9. Nicu and Lyrik from Natalia Jaster’s Foolish Kingdoms series

As much as I love Poet and Briar (and they probably are my favourite couple) I would most like to catch up with Nicu and Lyrik. They had probably the most to overcome of all the couplings in this series and therefore hold a special place in my heart.

10. Mildmay Foxe and Felix Harrowgate from Sarah Monette’s Doctrine of Labyrinths series

I miss these brothers immensely – they are very likely the most messed up people ever but there is something so endearing about them and I just want them to have all the good things. They did end the series in a better place but I would still like to see them finally happy.
