Favourite Books Featuring Dragons
I adore dragons so any books that feature these creatures is a definite win for me! I think my love for these mythological beasts stems from one of my favourite cartoons as a child: Flight of Dragons. Loved that animated film – it’s a shame it isn’t more well-known.
1. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
No list would be complete without the fearsome (and narcissistic!) Smaug! This is one of the very first books I ever read to feature dragons and it’s definitely one of the very best.
2. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis
Who could forgot the horrible Eustace? The moment he got turned into a dragon as penance for his actions stuck with me. I liked him a lot better as a dragon, if I’m being honest. 😉
3. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin
The dragons in this series are so iconic. I love Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal – any scene featuring them is definitely worth waiting for!
4. Seraphina by Rachel Hartman
It’s been a while since I read ‘Seraphina’ but I remember loving this book’s take on dragon lore and it certainly made a lasting impression on me – above all it is a cracking read.
5. the Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb
The dragons in this series are vain and prideful but I cannot help but love them for all that. Certainly, this series has so much good going for it but the dragons are just the icing on the cake, as far as I’m concerned. 😉

I love Seraphina. <3 And Robin Hobb writes some great dragons, agreed.
