Top Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies/TV Shows
I have been waiting for a topic like this one! I love seeing adaptations of my favourite books (though generally, I prefer when they are made into television series because they have more room to grow).
Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
This would make a fantastic movie. The stunningly gorgeous scenery, the love story – it would be absolutely amazing. The book was wonderfully evocative. A movie would be able to capture all of the best bits about the novel.
Swan Song by Robert McCammon
This is a great book about a post-apocalyptic world. It always reminded me a little of The Stand (another favourite by Stephen King that has already gotten the TV mini-series treatment and soon to be a movie). I always thought it would make a terrific movie.
This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers
This is an incredibly tense read and I honestly think it would make a really scary movie. Just like in Dawn of the Dead, the main characters are trapped in a single location – a school – and the atmosphere is out of this world.
Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Truthfully, this is one of my favourite books ever and I would love to see a movie adaptation but I think I would cry if it was done wrong. If they got it right it could be incredible though as it is such a beautiful story.
Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
This book could definitely work as a movie (a little bit similar to Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) and since Jellicoe Road is already been picked up for a movie (and the script is being worked on by Melina Marchetta herself) it would be great for another Aussie author to be able to adapt their work.
Soul Screamers series by Rachel Vincent
I really love this series and I think there is ample material for a television series. It has a unique twist on the supernatural and the success of TV shows like The Vampire Diaries (despite its waning quality) shows that there is still a market for this kind of show.
Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews
A post-apocalyptic world, kick-ass heroine, shapeshifters, and a slow-burn romance? I think this could really work as a series (much like Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld which has been turned into a series Bitten). Kate is an awesome protagonist who I could really get behind.
Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
I would love this to be turned into a series like they did with Game of Thrones! This is my ultimate favourite fantasy series and I think it really could be an amazing series (along long as they cast someone terrific as Fitz and The Fool, of course).
Experiment in Terror by Karina Halle
I think this series would lend itself really well to a television series. The characters in the book produce their own ghost-hunting show after all. This could be really super-scary and could even follow a similar format to the X Files since Perry and Dex do investigate various psychic and paranormal phenomena. This would rock it as a TV show!
Elemental series by Brigid Kemmerer
Hot brothers who can control the elements, enemies out to destroy them, plus trying to live on the bread line and cope with high school at the same time? I would seriously love for this to be turned into a series. The only question is who would be able to play Michael? *strokes chin thoughtfully*
