Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what’s the buzz: mega sale!
Alrighty, I’m still pretty buzzed about the mega sale The Works was having last week! I managed to pick up a whole load of books (like 17 books) for just £24.00! Not a bad bargain, if I do say so myself. 😉
Also had a pretty good week! I’ve been off work (just going into my second week off). It’s been great not to have a schedule to adhere to. Have kept myself plenty busy though so I’ve not really had much time for blogging (as you can see by my lack of posts all week).
I’ve also been reading quite a bit. I decided to re-read the ‘All for the Game’ series by Nora Sakavic – I’ve lost count how many times I’ve read this series this year but it’s just so good I can’t help myself. 😛
mega book haul incoming
Like I mentioned above, I went a bit cray cray last week but I can never resist a sale! Another mega haul incoming, new books for the most part but I did pick up a couple vintage pre-loved books too.
The Map of Bones by Francesca Haig | Hereafter by Tara Hudson | Nightfall by by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski | Asking for It by Louise O’Neill | The Midnight Queen by Sylvia Hunter | The Witch of Salt & Storm by Kendall Kulper | Aftermath by Kelley Armstrong | Empire of Night by Kelley Armstrong
The first batch of books from my mega haul this week. I’m always happy to pick up any Kelley Armstrong books as she is one of my favourite authors.
A Season of Spells by Sylvia Hunter | Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh | Exit Kingdom by Alden Bell | The Alienist by Caleb Carr | Foxlowe by Eleanor Wasserberg | Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater | Linger by Maggie Stiefvater | Forever by Maggie Stiefvater | Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater
I already own ‘Flame in the Mist’ in hardback format but the paperback is just so stunning I had to buy it! I also own ‘The Wolves of Mercy Falls’ series but all in different editions/formats so now I have a matching set!
Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews | Magic Shifts by Ilona Andrews
Finally getting my treasured signed copy of the final book in the ‘Kate Daniels’ series reminded me that I hadn’t yet bought ‘Magic Shifts’ or ‘Magic Binds’ so they were a must-buy this week. Going to start a re-read of the earlier books soon. It has been ages since I read the latest one and I need to catch up.
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien | The Two Towers by J.R.R Tolkien | The Return of the King by J.R.R Tolkien
I also managed to snag these 1979 editions of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. Aren’t they something else? Had a bit of a bidding war going on via eBay but I won in the end so it’s all good!
Heart of Valor by L.J Smith | Huntress by L.J Smith
I finally managed to track down a copy of L.J. Smith’s ‘Huntress’ with the original cover. Every time I have bought a copy it has always ended up being the re-released version (now there’s nothing wrong with that edition but I actually already own it). I also picked up ‘Heart of Valor’ – the awesome U.S. edition – loving the artwork!
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian | The Watchmaker’s Daughter by C.J Archer
I’ve been wanting to read ‘Ash Princess ‘ for a while now so when I saw it for £0.99 on Kindle it was a no-brainer really! A perfect compliment for my already mega haul! 😀
What She Inherits by Diane V. Mulligan | Being Brooke by Emma Hart
I can never resist a freebie and both of these were going free on Kindle! They both look really good too. I’ve been hankering to read some chick lit lately and these look like they will fit the bill!
Rented Heart by Garrett Leigh | Soul to Keep by Garrett Leigh
I’ve been meaning to read Garrett Leigh’s books for some time so there’s so time like the present! These two look like the perfect place to start – loads of angst – just what I like. 😉
Between Ghosts by Garrett Leigh | Mind Machines by Dima Zales
Garrett Leigh’s ‘Between Ghosts’ is actually linked to ‘Soul to Keep’ (they have some of the same characters). ‘Between Ghosts’ is actually set before so I probably should read it first!
for review
I’m trying very hard not to request so many review copies. It is going quite well but there are a couple I have been approved for I actually requested awhile back.
A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer | Ember by Anna Holmes
Super-excited for ‘A Curse So Dark and Lonely’. Brigid Kemmerer is one of my favourite authors. Really intrigued by ‘Ember’ also – the cover is stunning!

Oh wow, that is indeed a huge haul! Loved those editions of Lord of the Rings. Most of the books are unfamiliar to me. I hope you enjoy all of your new books 🙂
