Monthly Round-Up – April 2014
April hasn’t been a great month for me. My mum’s cancer is spreading and the doctor’s told us about a week and a half ago she will likely only have a few weeks left. I haven’t been able to focus a lot on my reading this month (not surprising really, given the circumstances) but blogging has really helped to take my mind off things.
I have been taking part in the LGBT Month event (hosted by Laura @ Laura Plus Books and Cayce @ Fighting Dreamer). This event ran for the entire month of April and was a lot of fun. I am sad that it is over but hopefully I will be able to take part again next year. Most of the reading I have done has been for this event so a big focus on LGBT books this month.
Books I read this month:
Taboo for You by Anyta Sunday (4/5 stars)
Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (5/5 stars)
Fool’s Assassin (ARC) by Robin Hobb (5/5 stars)
Us Three by Mia Kerick (5/5 stars)
Falling from the Sky by Nikki Godwin (4/5 stars)
How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J. C. Lillis (5/5 stars)
Andy Squared by Jennifer Lavoie (3.5/5 stars)
Books I reviewed this month:
Social Skills by Sara Alva

Blog News:
I was nominated for 3 Liebster Blog Awards again this month! Brigit @ Escape Inside the Pages, booknerdie, and littleonion @ littleonionwrites all put my blog forward for nomination. I haven’t had any time to answer any of the questions from these bloggers, and don’t think I will have time given what is going on in my personal life, but I just wanted to say a big thank you. Although I will not be taking part I do really appeciate being nominated and I really love all of your blogs.

Well, that’s my wrap-up for April. What about you guys? What were your favorite books this month? Favourite posts? Favourite articles? Other fun stuff you have done? What did you get up to in the month of April?

Sorry to hear about your mum, it’s good that she has a loving family around her, hope you make some great memories in the coming weeks 🙂
Thanks. I have a really big family who are all rallying around which does make it a little easier. 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about your mum 🙁 I hope she isn’t in too much pain at the moment
Thanks. 🙂 My mum is on a lot of pain meds which seem to be helping but they do make her really woozy and forgetful which stresses her out a bit.
Understandably 🙁 I know the effects well since we lost my aunt to pancreatic cancer and another aunt was recently diagnosed- I’d never say “I know what you are going through” but if you need to rant to someone, my inbox is always open.
I have lost a few family members to cancer too – it never gets any easier. 🙁
Thanks, that’s really kind of you. <3
*many hugs*
Oh, I’m sorry to hear about your mum, Brin 🙁 *virtual hugs* I’m glad blogging helps (at least a little)
Thanks <3
Blogging has helped – keeps my mind off things for awhile. 🙂
My prayers go out to you and your family.
Thanks. 🙂
