Monthly Round-Up – October 2014
I didn’t get a whole lot of reading done this month which kind-of sucks but I did get to see some film-from-book adaptations so it wasn’t all bad! I went to see Gone Girl and The Maze Runner which were both pretty awesome and really made me want to read the books they are based on.
On the run-up to Halloween, I did several Halloween-themed posts which were a lot of fun. I wish I’d had more time to read some scary/creepy books but it wasn’t to be this year. It is also getting closer to release date for Dragon Age: Inquisition (yep, I’m obsessed!) and I really cannot wait to finally get my grubby hands on this game – expect me to ignore my blog for at least a couple of days while I am playing. 😛
Books I read this month:
| Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater |
I didn’t get a lot of reading done this month (only finished one book though I have several in-progress) but what a blinder of a book it was! Maggie Stiefvater delivered yet another amazing instalment in The Raven Cycle series – expect my review for this shortly.
Films I watched this month:
This was a really amazing film. I loved the story and loved the casting, particularly Dylan O’Brien as Thomas and Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, though all of the cast was pretty amazing. I am looking forward to diving into the series – I really need to know what happens next!
This film was certainly an eye-opener (in more ways than one). It was a really disturbing but enthralling film. I did guess quite early on what was going on but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying the film at all. Definitely worth watching.
I wasn’t expecting a lot from this film, despite really enjoying The Conjuring, but I was pleasantly surprised by this. It had some genuinely creepy moments and the plot was interesting. I wished the doll had featured a tiny bit more but overall it was a pretty good film with enough scares to entertain any horror movie buff.
I went to see this film on Halloween and although it was a tad formulaic it was still a pretty decent film and had quite a few scares. Ouija boards kind-of freak me out anyway so this film did manage to creep me out. Don’t mess with these things people! LOL 😉
Plays I watched this month:
I did a post about this so I will not rehash all my thoughts about this incredible performance again except to say that this really was a wonderful experience and I am glad it was re-released. Looking forward to the next screening on Tuesday!
TV I watched this month:
The Walking Dead is back on (yay!) and I am really enjoying the fifth season. I have also been catching up with some American Horror Story – don’t know why it took me so long to jump on the band-wagon with this but I am loving it so far! So glad they have put it up on Netflix.
Blog News:
