Online Resources for Book Lovers/Bloggers

Oh, I LOVE these type of topics! It’s always interesting seeing and sharing resources with fellow bloggers and it’s a great way to discover new websites, databases, forums, apps etc. that can be of use and interesting to book lovers.

There are so many that are amazing even though I tend to stick to the tried and true resources that I would have been lost without over the last 8 or so years since I started my blogging journey. 😀

resources

1. Goodreads

This one is probably a no-brainer – I think that there are very few book bloggers that haven’t utilised Goodreads at one point or another. There are a few somewhat similar sites (LibraryThing, Booklikes etc.) but none of these have the same reach. It’s definitely a resource I use on a regular basis, even for just keeping track of books I have bought or want to read/buy.

2. BookBub

BookBub is another site I visit all the time. It’s a great place to find all the best eBook deals (and freebies!) and is another place to share reviews and recommendations. Quite a few of my favourite authors have a strong presence on there as well. It’s a fab little resource!

3. Netgalley

Edelweiss hates me so I get nearly all of my eARCs from Netgalley! I don’t request anywhere near as many books as I used to (I went mad for a bit and my review ratio took a massive hit – a rookie mistake I’m still paying for now) but I still keep an eye on upcoming releases and visit a fair bit.

4. Reddit

I used to really only visit the True Crime subreddits but I started branching out into the various book communities and very much enjoy the discussions on them (even if I’m more of a lurker than participator). It’s great for general bookish chat and more niche bookish interests too.

5. PicMonkey

This is more of a blogging resource really… since I’m pretty useless with Photoshop (I keep saying I’m going to get myself clued up but never get around to it) PicMonkey has been a godsend for me! I use Canva too but I find the interface on PicMonkey suits my capabilities better.

6. Etsy

Etsy is the best place to find a range of handmade bookish merch and gifts, hands down. I have spent so much money on the various Etsy stores you wouldn’t believe it (and I don’t regret it – not one bit). 😉

7. The Hungry JPEG

A site I discovered very early in my blogging journey and still the best place for me to find graphic and design resources. I have a few other sites I use but this is the one that gets most of my business. They offer the best bundles for me not to mention the weekly freebies and deals.

8. Bookstagram

I use the Instagram app constantly! I’m always browsing, even when I’m not uploading my own bookish photos, and the bookish community there has been very welcoming to me. I am nowhere near the level of some folks (there are so many talented photographers out there!) but I have fun with it and find it a great companion to my blog.

9. Facebook Groups

This is a funny one because I’m not the biggest fan of Facebook itself but I love the Facebook groups! There are so many greats communities on there for books and book blogging and other related hobbies. I really enjoy the various author groups I’ve joined too.

10. Pinterest

I’m a very visually-oriented person so Pinterest is a dream for me! I don’t just use it for bookish-related stuff but it is great for that. I’ve found it extremely useful especially for finding vintage books as I am a collector of these (I rarely remember authors/titles from childhood but have a great memory for the covers themselves so Pinterest is so helpful for this).
