This meme is one that really speaks to me – gaming is something I really enjoy so seeing a feature that combines both reading and gaming? Sign me up! This is the third month that this feature has been running for so I have decided to combine all three posts into one mega post!

Question: how did you get into gaming?

I used to muck about playing games on my computer (I can remember being addicted to this game called Chip’s Challenge lol) but it wasn’t until my boyfriend (now fiancé) bought me a Playstation that I really got into gaming. The two games that really caught my interest were Resident Evil 2 and Parasite Eve 2. The first game that really hooked me in as a gamer though was Knights of the Old Republic. I actually bought an Xbox for myself (I had played on the boyfriend’s console before) strictly to play KOTOR (with prize money I won for being the top student in my year at College graduation – go me!) – I had my priorities on straight there lol. 😉

Recommendation: what do you recommend for new gamers?

I would definitely recommend Animal Crossing – it is such a fun little game and really easy for any newbie gamers to pick up. I got a few of my non-gamer friends hooked on this!

Question: what is your favourite gaming genre?

Role-Playing games are definitely my favourite. I love the story aspect of these games – it is like an interactive book where you are the one that gets to shape the outcome. I love games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect (Bioware is probably my favourite developer) but I also enjoy games series like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Final Fantasy. Basically any game where you have to sink at least 30+ hours into it – I love the total feeling of immersion that RPG’s give me.

Recommendation: RPG I would recommend

I am going to go with Final Fantasy VII – an oldie but a goodie! I loved this game when I first played it and although the graphics are a bit (ok a lot) outdated – the gameplay and storyline still stands up to the test of time. This game is a classic for a reason.

Question: what is your favourite gaming platform?

Lol – I am a console peasant! To be more precise most of my gaming is done on my Xbox 360 (I haven’t yet upgraded to an Xbox One and not sure if I will). Have recently purchased a PS4 though and with so many amazing games coming out on this console, I fear my Xbox 360 may soon be getting neglected!

Recommendation: Xbox 360 exclusive game I would recommend

Fable II – this game is so awesome! I liked the first Fable game but hated that you couldn’t play a female character. Well, in Fable II you most certainly can! It is not as deep or immersive as other RPG’s such as Mass Effect, Oblivion etc. but it is a lot of fun and I have sunk many, many hours into playing this game.

Currently Playing:

In anticipation for the upcoming release of Dragon Age: Inquisition, I am currently replaying Dragon Age: Origins (with a view to move onto Dragon Age 2 when I am done).

  1. Thanks for joining in, I’m glad you had lots of fun with the meme Brin! I have heard good things about Dragon Age, haven’t had the chance to play it though. I wish they would do a FF7 remake with better graphics, I tried getting into the PC version but it was just too blocky. I loved FF4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 though. Animal Crossing is the funnest game ever!

    • Thank you for hosting it – I love the fact that it combines two of my favourite activities reading and gaming!

Dragon Age is amazing – I would highly recommend it especially DA: Origins. I agree with you about FF7 – I played it years ago so it wasn’t as bad but the graphics are very blocky compared to later title. 🙂 FF8 is actually my favourite of all the FF games followed by 10 but I do think 7 is the most ground-breaking.

Animal Crossing is so much fun – It was the most played game I had for my Gamecube. 🙂

  2. YES, to all of this! Bioware is one of my favorite developers too, alongside Bethesda. RPG’s are definitely my favorites and I totally forgot about Chip’s Challenge! I used to be so good at that game. I recommended Fable II this week as well.

    • Great mind think alike! lol 😉 Fable II is such a classic.

I love Bioware and Bethesda – I have spent many hours playing their games!

Yay – another Chip’s Challenge fan!! I loved that game. <3
