stacking the shelves bookish haul

Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsReading Reality

what’s the buzz: weekly round-up

Another pretty quiet week; the only thing notable was the lot of retro paperbacks I managed to snag on eBay (thankfully, not as large as the lot I acquired last week!)

I have finally gotten around to watching American Horror Story – it has been on my to-do list for years. I’ve only watched season one thus far but I rather like it. Even though I hardly know what the hell is going on half the time!

I’ve also been back into gaming again; replaying The Technomancer which is a game I love beyond measure! So underrated – it’s almost criminal. I’ve also had a shot of the new Life is Strange game which I think I am going to love just as much as the first game.

I mainly bought retro paperbacks again this week although I did get a couple of new books (mainly on Kindle). I’m rather happy with my haul. 😊

The Love Vote by Jo Stewart | Someone New by Barbara Bartholomew | Lynn’s Challenge by Sandy MillerA Love Like This by Barbara Bartholomew | Corie’s Success by Judith Enderle | Jeff’s New Girl by Anne Reynolds | The Love Contest by Jo StewartA Song for Mandy by by Dawn AldridgeTest of Love by Janice StevensTorn In Two by Sandy MillerDream Summer by Janice Stevens | The Love Cycle by Rona S. Zable | The Ring of Truth by Neil Masters

I have only very vague recollections of this series so it’s going to be interesting reading these! I love getting my hands on rare books and these seem to be both out-of-print and hard-to-find!

The Doubting Kind by Alison Prince | I’m Not Your Other Half by Caroline B. Cooney | The Beethoven Medal by K.M. Peyton | Short Cut to Love by Mary Hooper | You’ve Got to Believe Me by Judith St. George | When Friends Fall Out by Pamela Pemberton | Don’t Blame the Music by Caroline B. Cooney

The second half of my retro paperbacks haul. For some reason, included were two copies of ‘The Doubting Kind’ when the listing only had one! Ah well, the more the merrier! 😉

retro paperbacks (mostly)

Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

I pre-ordered this book ages ago so I (almost) forgot it was coming out this week! Which reminds me, I really need to read the first book – one of the many books on my TBR pile!

retro paperbacks (mostly)

The Lost Sisters by Holly Black | The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky by Mackenzi Lee

I read both of these novellas when they were released on Wednesday and they are fan-frickin-tastic! Holly Black has totally outdone herself – I (almost) managed to feel sorry for Taryn in this.

As for ‘The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky’ this isn’t available to purchase unfortunately. It was a pre-order bonus for the next book (which I have on pre-order but the Hardcover isn’t out until next month – I’m seriously considering breaking down and buying the eBook as well). It was an amazing little snippet into Monty and Percy’s life after the first book.

retro paperbacks (mostly)

Iron and Magic by Ilona Andrews | Edinburgh Twilight by Carole Lawrence

Both of these were available for £0.99 on Kindle Daily Deal today! I’ve been meaning to get ‘Iron and Magic’ for a while and ‘Edinburgh Twilight’ also looks amazing.

retro paperbacks (mostly)

The Infinite Pieces of Us by Rebekah Crane | Corrupt by Penelope Douglas

I’m really looking forward to starting both of these. ‘The Infinite Pieces of Us’ was a First Reads choice this month and it looks really great. I also really enjoy Penelope Douglas’ writing so ‘Corrupt’ is a book I am much looking forward to starting soon.

retro paperbacks (mostly)

If I Break by Portia Moore | Greed by C.M. Sutter

Both of these books were freebies on Kindle but they look pretty interesting so I am definitely intrigued! I’m really in the mood for thrillers at the moment.

retro paperbacks (mostly)

The Nearness of You by Iris Morland | The Very Thought of You by Iris Morland

Rounding off my haul for this week are a couple of romances! I also got these for free and I’m pretty stoked. Sometimes I really just want to read a lighthearted fluffy book now and again. 😉
