Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what I have been up to:
I’ve been somewhat lax with blogging this month but that hasn’t stopped me from accumulating a fairly sizeable bookish haul (my bookshelves are positively groaning!) I’ve been doing training at work –as in delivering it– and it has been very tiring and draining. It has not left me a lot of time for my blog. It’s actually been a month since my last STS post.
I haven’t felt up to doing much more than falling into bed at the end of the day. Sometimes with a book (those are the good days!) and sometimes just to pass out. Still, I’ve done not too badly with reading. I don’t want to speak too soon but I think I have maybe finally gotten myself out of that year/s-long reading slump. Fingers crossed! 😉
bookshelves: latest additions
Immortal Reign by Morgan Rhodes | Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller | The Fandom by Anna Day | The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
I was so excited for Immortal Reign and it didn’t let me down! Going to miss this series so much. Cruel Prince was also beyond amazing. I can’t wait for the next book but since it isn’t out until next year it will be a super-long wait!
Tithe by Holly Black | Valiant by Holly Black | Ironside by Holly Black | Prince of Flames by Ben Alderson
I didn’t realize when I read The Cruel Prince that it was going to intersect with her earlier series (which I haven’t read) so I need to rectify that post-haste!
Lord of the White Hell Book One by Ginn Hale | Lord of the White Hell Book Two by Ginn Hale | Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book One by Ginn Hale | Champion of the Scarlet Wolf Book Two by Ginn Hale
This series was everything! It was so unbelievably amazing. I can’t wait to read the Rifter books by Ginn Hale because I’ve heard they are even better (if that’s even possible). 😉
The Archer’s Heart by Astrid Amara | The Mutt by Kasia Bacon | Blessing and Light by Kasia Bacon | Among the Living by Jordan Castillo Price
I read a snippet of the short story The Mutt and I was super-intrigued by what little I read so I had to buy it. Kasia Bacon is working on a full-length novel with these characters and I am really interested in seeing where this story goes…
I have been meaning to pick this series up for ages and once I did I pretty much zoomed through it in a matter of days. Not the easiest read and it did drag a bit in the middle books but overall a thoroughly engrossing series.
Enlightened by J P Barnaby | Abandoned by J P Barnaby | Vanished by J P Barnaby | Discovered by J P Barnaby
Escaped by J P Barnaby | Sacrificed by J P Barnaby | Sophie by J P Barnaby | Rhapsody on a Theme by Matthew J Metzger
Why have I put off reading Matthew J. Metzger for so long? I had the first two books in this series for year. They were gathering dust on my bookshelves but just never seemed to get around to reading it. Now that I have, I am absolutely kicking myself for not getting to it sooner. Such a brilliant portrayal of depression.
The Other Lands by Sarah Rees Brennan | Outwalkers by Fiona Shaw | Catalysts: The Scientific Method by Kris Ripper | Ghost Walk by Kay Solo
I am really excited to read In Other Lands – it looks so funny! Outwalkers has also really piqued my interest. I got it in a book box and I hadn’t actually heard all that much about it. However, it looks really great so I am definitely excited!
Damage Control by Lynn Van Dorn | Relay by Layla Reyne | White Rose, Black Forest by Eoin Dempsey | Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
Relay was a pretty good read. Wasn’t overly sold on the romance but I really liked the setting. I am looking forward to the next book. I have also really wanted to read Alex, Approximately for ages. Was really chuffed to pick it up on sale for my Kindle.
Third Rail by Santino Hassell | Illegal Contact by Santino Hassell | Down by Contact by Santino Hassell | Off Campus by Amy Jo Cousins
Santino Hassell can do no wrong in my eyes so I am always really excited for any new books. I’m not the biggest fan of sports books but I am hoping to be converted! 😀
From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata | Love, Hate & Other Filters by Samira Ahmed | Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman | A Different Light by Morningstar Ashley
Call Me By Your Name is getting such buzz at the moment, especially with all the Oscar noms. I thought it was past time I checked out the novel it was based on.
Te Amo Means I Love You by Deborah Kent | Dream Date by Carla Bracale | My Dream Guy by Carla Bracale | The Weirdstone of Brisingamen by Alan Garner
A couple of Sweet Dreams books added to my collection (I am running out of space on my bookshelves). I also received a copy of The Weirdstone of Brisingamen in my February #PATC box. I already own the book but I am loving this edition (I collect vintage books and love getting older editions).
The Foxhole Court by Nora Sakavic | The Raven King by Nora Sakavic | The King’s Men by Nora Sakavic
I already own this series on Kindle but I loved it so much I had to buy it in paperback. I love to own physical copies of my favourite books. These three looks so pretty on my bookshelves!
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell | Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
Again, I already own Carry On but I wanted a copy for my Kindle. I want to be able to read it on my phone when I am at work. On my lunch that is! I also had to pick up a copy of the movie tie-in edition of Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda. Can’t wait for the film!!
The Girl in the Box Books 1-3 by Robert J. Crane | The Course of True Love (and First Dates) by Cassandra Clare | Soul Screamers Collection by Rachel Vincent
I won this gorgeous little hardback edition of The Course of True Love from Walker Books. It’s very pretty. 😍😍 Thanks so much Walker Books!! I also picked up the full collection of the Soul Screamers on eBook for £0.99! I own the books but this was just too good to pass up!
received for review
The Astonishing Colour of After by Emily X.R. Pan | Scorpio Hates Virgo by Anyta Sunday | The Beasts Heart by Leife Shallcross | The Weekend Bucket List by Mia Kerick
I’m gradually reducing the amount of ARCs I request. Partly because of the lack of copies available for UK readers. Also because I really have been awful at keeping up with them. I suck, I know it. 🙁

So many book! I just love the cover of Ghostwalk and In Other Lands sounds like such a great read.
Good luck with getting out of your slump. I’m also super excited for the Simon movie. Enjoy your new books!
I had no idea The Cruel Prince was related to the others – might have to check them out. I just finished Cruel Prince today and man, that is a long wait. I’ve added at least 4 from your haul to my wishlist from this haul alone – you’re so bad!
I have Immortal Reign on my list to check out from the library and can’t wait to read it. I read Cruel Prince and need to go read other books to see how they tie together.
