Stacking The Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking the Shelves
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
- Participants are to create their own Stacking the Shelves post and link bank to Tynga’s Reviews so more people can join the fun!
- Posts can be laid out any way you want.
- The host site posts updates on a Saturday but bloggers taking part can post any day they choose.
- Visit Tynga’s Reviews on a Saturday and add your link.
- Visit other participants sites to find out what they have added!
The rules are simple and it is a really fun way to showcase your books and see what other bloggers are excited about this week! Not to mention the fact that it is a good way to interact with and get to know other bloggers!

Book haul:
Okay, I’m just gonna put this out there – this will be me primarily showing my super-nostalgic, rather old self here with the retro books I have been buying lately. There is a LOT of Sweet Dreams books here (I am totally showing my slant towards 1980s retro memorabilia).
Retro Books bought:
I read a lot (and by that I mean a LOT) of Sweet Dreams books when I was younger. I have become pretty nostalgic for the books I enjoyed back then so I have been buying (in some cases re-buying because I used to own them but foolishly gave most of them away) some of my old favourites and even some I didn’t read back then.
This lot of 21 Sweet Dreams books was up on eBay and I knew I had to purchase. I have a few of the books already but it was such a good deal that it didn’t matter if there were duplicates.
I also couldn’t resist this lot of Sweet Valley High Super Editions. I was a huge fan of this series despite (or maybe because of) its flaws so I am looking forward to diving bank into the perfect world of those pesky Wakefield twins!
The Hart and Soul series was another one I really enjoyed reading back in the day. I managed to get a hold of the first six books on eBay and the seventh book is on its way from Amazon Marketplace.
Sadly, the last book in the series is proving harder to get a hold of (and anywhere that has it is super-expensive) so I may just have to resign myself to never completing this series. 🙁
**EDIT: Just revisiting this post to report I did actually manage to track down a copy – god bless Thrift Books – best place to pick up hard-to-find retro books!!**
I used to enjoy a good teen thriller so I also couldn’t resist buying a few from back in the day. 😉 I have been wanting to read When No One was Looking, Behind the Attic Wall and Night Fall for years so I decided now was the time to buy myself a copy of each. I also picked up a couple of Terror Academy books that I can remember enjoying.
Other Purchases (i.e. books published after the 1980s)!!
I have the first book so when The Masked City was going cheap on Kindle I snapped it right up! I also forgot to include in my post last week some other books I bought such as The Winner’s Kiss (so, so good!!) and Mist & Whispers.
I am also really looking forward to reading Gabriel and the Swallows, Blackheath, and The Awakened. They all look so amazing I am pretty spoiled for choice!
I have heard so many great things about Matthew J. Metzger so I had to pick up Our Last Summer and The Suicidal Peanut when I happened across them. I also picked up Strong Signal (huge fan of Santino Hassell).
Lastly, I also purchased The Raven King and The King’s Men after seeing some pretty glowing reviews on Goodreads (I already own the first book in the series). I have also been wanting to read The Gift of Fear for absolutely ages so I immediately 1-clicked buy when it was going for £0.99 on Kindle. 😉
For Review:
I am really looking forward to reading You Know Me Well – it looks so good!! These are two authors I really admire so looking forward to reading this collaboration. 🙂
Hope everyone has had a great week!

Great haul. My older sister used to have a bunch of those Sweet Valley High books. I remember reading some of them when I was a kid.
