Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what’s the buzz: weekly round-up
It was actually a fairly busy week, truth be told. I finally got my hair done which I’ve been meaning to do for ages (I actually think the last time I was at the hairdressers was a year ago – yikes!) It’s now very blonde and much shorter (went with ye-old faithful bob).
I also went to see Overlord this week – now that was an action-packed punch of a film. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was gripped the whole way through. We also went out for dinner right after (a pre-Christmas meal out) which was also very nice.
my bookish haul
Okay, I’ll be the first to admit I went a bit crazy with the book-buying this week! Seriously though, there were so many great deals I just couldn’t help myself! 😉
books bought:
Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness | The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness | The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness | Alanna: The Song of the Lioness by Tamora Pierce | The Tulip Touch by Anne Fine | No Turning Back by Beverley Naidoo | The Pearl by John Steinbeck | The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier | The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton | The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge | Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge | Fly By Night by Frances Hardinge
I might have just given into temptation and bought a bundle of books from The Book People when they were having their Black Friday sale. Oops – so much for cutting back on my book-buying! Ah well…
The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan | The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan | The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan | The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan | The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan | Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce | Empress of all Seasons by Emiko Jean
I have been meaning to read the Percy Jackson series so when I saw the box-set of the first series of books going for £6.00 I knew I had to make it mine!
Final Friends Book 1: The Party by Christopher Pike | The Tachyon Web by Christopher Pike | Die Softly by Christopher Pike | The Immortal by Christopher Pike
I was addicted to Christopher Pike’s books back when I was a young teen. I always enjoy a trip down memory lane so I’m looking forward to reading these books again.
Down a Dark Hall by Lois Duncan | Summer of Fear by Lois Duncan | I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan | Stranger With My Face by Lois Duncan
I’m on a mission to try and collect all the vintage editions of Lois Duncan’s books. I’m really pleased to add this edition of ‘Down a Dark Hall’ and ‘Stranger With My Face’ to my collection. I also love this cover for ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’. I already have this edition of ‘Summer of Fear’ but the copy I own has sprayed green edges and this one does not so it’s still different enough to justify getting it again! 😉
The Juniper Game by Sherryl Jordan | The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore by Joan Lowery Nixon
I love, love, love the cover of this edition of ‘The Kidnapping of Christina Lattimore’ – I’m so happy to add it to my collection. I’m also loving the cover for ‘The Juniper Game’ been meaning to buy this book for ages!
The Curse by Cynthia Blair | The Principal by M.C. Sumner | Nightmare Inn by T.S. Rue | Deadly Stranger by M.C. Sumner | Summer’s End by Robert Hawks | The Teacher by Joseph Locke | K is for Killer by Sue Grafton | The Hunger by M.C. Sumner | The Secret Diaries: Temptation by Janice Harrell
I already have a few of these but the majority were in bind-up editions so I couldn’t pass this lot of Nightmares books up when I came across it on eBay (like, I was just innocently strolling by…) 😉
Witch by Christopher Pike | I.O.U. by Nicholas Adams | The Coach by M.C. Sumner | Home Before Dark by Beverly Hastings | The Beast by Cynthia Blair | Blood Reunion by Janice Harrell | Bloodchoice by Janice Harrell | Bloodlust by Janice Harrell | Bloodlines by Janice Harrell | Spring Break by Barbara Steiner
The second half of the lot, with a few bonus titles including ‘Witch’ by Christopher Pike and ‘Spring Break’ by Barbara Steiner. Not a bad haul, if I do say so myself. 🙂
Corktown by Ty Hutchinson | A Hymn in the Silence by Kelley York & Rowan Altwood | The Girl at the Border by Leslie Archer
I can’t believe I missed that ‘A Hymn in the Silence’ came out at the end of October! Have I been living under a rock??? I’ve been waiting for this book since I read (and loved!) the first one.
for review:
Descendant of the Crane by Joan He | Izzy + Tristan by Shannon Dunlap | Come and Get Me by August Norman
I have definitely got cover-lust for ‘The Descendant of the Crane’ – it is such a stunningly beautiful cover!
Exit Plans for Teenage Freaks by Nathan Burgoine | Keep This To Yourself by Tom Ryan | You’d Be Mine by Erin Hahn
I’m pretty excited for all of these books. They all look so amazing I can’t wait to get stuck in asap!

What amazing additions to your book shelves!!
Yay for an awesome book haul! I really want to get The Outsiders at some point and give it a read. and then watch the movie afterward. 🙂
Keep This To Yourself looks awesome too.
Now that’s a haul. I really enjoyed looking at all of them. Hope you enjoy them all!
