Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what’s the buzz: weekly round-up
I have had total blogger’s block (is that even a thing?) this week; honestly I don’t know quite what has been up with me. I had ideas for posts and reviews to write-up but words are hard sometimes… 😉 I’m hoping to get back in the swing of it next week!
Outside of blogging… well, life has been pretty quiet actually. I went to see Escape Room on my day off this week which was actually quite good – reminded me a touch of that film Cube mixed with Final Destination. It passed an hour and half anyway. Apart from that, nothing much going on.
book haul
Only a handful of physical books this week (though there are more on the way, natch). I’m really happy with those that I did get though.
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo | An Apprentice to Elves by Sarah Monette and Elizabeth Bear
Yeah, your eyes do not deceive you – I got another copy of King of Scars! This copy came in the Saints and Scars box by Illumicrate (unboxing will be coming soon but suffice it to say, this box was amazing! My favourite yet!) It’s a special edition for the box – it’s got a sexy golden cover underneath the dust jacket! I also got An Apprentice to Elves which I’ve been meaning to buy for absolutely ages.
Night of the Prom by Janet Quin-Harkin | New Year’s Eve by Janet Quin-Harkin
I finally decided to track down the Senior Year series by Janet Quin-Harkin. I’ve read books one, two, and four (borrowed via library) but Night of the Prom always eluded me. Now I finally have a copy – albeit an ex-library one (I usually don’t like ex-library books – for OCD-related reasons) but it was the only copy I could track down at a reasonable price (some of these are going for approx £200!!) Books one and four are on their way (thanks Thrift Books!) but I was able to get book two from Amazon Marketplace and the elusive book three via Abe Books!
Discern by Andrea Pearson | Praxis by Andrea Pearson | Perceive by Andrea Pearson | Observe by Andrea Pearson
I have absolutely no idea what these books are about but I am willing to give anything a whirl (and they do sound interesting!)
More Happy than Not by Adam Silvera | They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera | Openly, Honestly by Bill Konigsberg | The Fall by David L. Dawson
I’ve been meaning to buy more Adam Silvera books so when I saw them for £0.99 on Kindle each, well… you know what happened (one click buy!)
Cornerstone by Misty Provencher | Fledgling by Natasha Brown | Fire in Frost by Alicia Rades | War of the Fae by Elle Casey
I actually got all these for free (bless Book Bub!) – the covers are so pretty and I’m hoping the inside is as good as the outside!
Open Minds by Susan Kaye Quinn | The Legacy Human by Susan Kaye Quinn | Uncanny Valley by C.A. Gray | The Last Orphans by N.W. Harris
These were all free too (I might have gone a bit mad here haha!) They all looked too good to pass up though (now I just need to find time to read them all!)
A Brush with the Moon by Raquel Lyon | Rift by Andreas Christensen | Tainted by Alexandra Moody | Faelorehn by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson
…More freebies! I’ve definitely got a problem – I just can’t seem to stop myself from one clicking when I come across free books for Kindle.
Midnight Rose by Dani Hart | The Dragonslayer’s Sword by Resa Nelson | The Wide Night Sky by Matt Dean | The Second Sister by Rae D. Magdon
It’s getting a little ridiculous now, I know. Way too many books even if they were all free. I’ve definitely got a problem… 😉
Fearless Leader by Tricia Owens | Queen of Someday by Sherry D. Ficklin | Alan Lennox and the Temp Job of Doom by Brian Olsen | The Flirting Games by Stella Wilkinson
Okay, okay, I give up now! That’s the last of the free books now (and I don’t need to get any more for probably at least a year!)
for review:
A Step Away by G. Randy Kasten | Hazel & Holly by Sara C. Snider | Dead School by Laura Gia West | Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman
I hadn’t intended to request any review copies this week but when I checked Netgalley (only looking, not requesting!) some books I requested a while back (like a week ago haha!) I had been approved for. What’s a girl gotta do? 😉
