what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul
Well, it’s been a slightly better week compared to the hellstorm that was last week haha! Still not totally on my game but getting there a bit more so I will take that as a win. 😉
I am totally, completely head over heels for Star Trek: Discovery – it’s become the highlight of each week for me. I’m really to have Star Trek back – I’ve really missed having a trek series to watch. I live for sassy Spock!

weekly bookish purchases
Stolen Time by Danielle Rollins | The Near Witch by V.E. Schwab | Vicious by V.E. Schwab | A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab
My collection of V.E. Schwab books is growing steadily (I have another copy of The Near Witch hopefully coming next week!) I am absolutely loving these editions. I got The Near Witch and A Gathering of Shadows (signed) from Forbidden Planet and Vicious from Illumicrate (also signed). I also got Stolen Time in a book box which looks really intriguing…
The Last April Dancers by Jean Thesman | The Late Great Me by Sandra Scoppettone | My First Love and Other Disasters by Francine Pascal | Love & Betrayal & Hold the Mayo by Francine Pascal
These covers are very colourful (and inspired my graphics choices this week!) I have ended up with a second copy of this edition of The Late Great Me (I thought the first one had gotten lost in the mail so I bought another copy. This one is in better condition though so it’s all good. 😉
The Saturdays by Elizabeth Enright | The Village by the Sea by Anita Desai | Fifteen by Beverly Cleary | I Love You, Stupid! by Harry Mazer | One Foot on the Ground by Jean Richardson | Comeback by Marjorie Darke
A lot of vintage books on eBay that I just couldn’t resist. I love these Pan Horizons editions as they bring back so many memories. This cover for I Love You, Stupid! is certainly a trip. I also got some Puffin Plus books with very eighties-looking covers!
The Fury by L.J. Smith | The Snow Spider trilogy by Jenny Nimmo | Basketball Game by Julius Lester | The Gift by Peter Dickinson
This edition of The Snow Spider trilogy is the same as the one I owned when I was younger. I’m not sure whatever happened to my original copy (probably loaned out and never returned) but I’m glad to have another copy. I also got The Gift through this month’s PATC box which is kinda funny because I just had another book of his in last week’s haul. 😉
The Honeywell Badger by Joyce Stranger | Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer | Harriet the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh | Hans Brinker, or The Silver Skates by Mary Mapes Dodge | The First of Midnight by Marjorie Darke
Another lot from eBay. The seller even threw in a couple of extra books – wasn’t that nice of them? I know I appreciated it. 😀
Mortimer and the Sword Excalibur by Joan Aiken | Catweazle by Richard Carpenter | The Upstairs Room by Johanna Reiss | Go Well, Stay Well by Toeckey Jones
I got this lot mainly for The Upstairs Room which looks like a really great read but the other books also look really good too although I’m not sure what to think of Catweazle…
The Clearance by Joan Lingard | The Resettling by Joan Lingard | The Pilgrimage by Joan Lingard | The Reunion by Joan Lingard | The Gooseberry by Joan Lingard | A Proper Place by Joan Lingard
I already own the first book of the Maggie series but it was just too good a deal for this and the rest of the series I couldn’t resist. 😉
A Chip and a Chair by Cordelia Kingsbridge | Blindsided by Eden Finley
Holy crap, how on Earth did I forget that A Chip and a Chair was out??? I have been dying to read this and the wait has been excruciating – how it then managed to slip my mind I will never fathom! I was also happy to see that Blindsided was released a couple of days ago (in the middle of reading it and it’s the best book in this series yet!)
A Shimmer in the Night by Kelley York & Rowan Altwood | Starswept by Mary Fan
I have really been enjoying the Dark is the Night series so I can’t wait to read this novella following a couple of the side characters. I am also looking forward to reading Starswept – ho amazing is that cover? 😍
received for review
Shadow Frost by Coco Ma | Don’t Say a Word by Amber Lynn Natusch
Just a couple of review copies this week but they both look so good – quality over quantity amirite? 😉

What gorgeous VE Schwab books. And looks like you found some awesome older titles as well.
