stacking the shelves bookish haul

Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality

what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul

Well, it’s been two weeks since my last STS post so you would think a tonne of things would have happened in that time right? Wrong. It’s been a pretty boring couple of weeks, to be honest.

It also seems to be bad news city. I’m not loving what I’m hearing about the next Dragon Age game (it’s basically going to be overhauled and made more like Anthem which is… not my cuppa at all). I’m also disappointed with The Magicians. It seems like Queliot is dead in the water. Boo! So much for queer rep. 🙁

I’ve also noticed that my moods are swinging lower again (not because of the aforementioned annoyances – though they haven’t helped). I’ve been doing a lot better for the last wee while so it figures my depression would make an unwelcome visit.

Nevermind, I’m trying to get my positivity back on track so I will say that I’m looking forward to Game of Thrones coming back on (finally), I’m eagerly awaiting Avengers: Endgame, and I’m still loving Star Trek: Discovery. So not everything is grim. 😉

weekly bookish purchases

stacking the shelves week 156

Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy | A Gathering of Shadows by V.E. Schwab

Once & Future came in a book box and I’m so flipping happy because it was definitely a book I was going to buy anyway. This edition is so pretty! I also got a signed paperback copy of A Gathering of Shadows too.

Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll | Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll | The Chronicles of Narnia box set by C.S. Lewis | If I Love You, Am I Trapped Forever by M.E. Kerr | The Girl in the Box by Ouida Sebestyen

I do love collecting different editions of books so I’m happy to add another couple of Alice in Wonderland titles to my vintage collection. I also snagged this box set of Narnia books – mainly because I used to own a couple of these editions and I’m pretty nostalgic at the best of times.

Not only that, but I managed to get a couple of Pan Horizons titles – I love the minimalist covers and these are the ones I can remember from my library excursion days as a young pre-teen. 🙂

The Enchantments of Flesh and Spirit by Storm Constantine | The Bewitchments of Love and Hate by Storm Constantine | The Fulfilments of Fate and Desire by Storm Constantine

I’ve been wanting to read the Wraeththu Chronicles for absolutely ages so when I saw this bundle on eBay I knew I had to make them mine! I love these 1980s covers! The hair is… well, something else haha!

The Next Girl to Die by Dea Poirier | Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus | Girl of Glass by Megan O’Russell | Too Close by R. Phoenix

The Next Girl to Die was my Amazon First Reads choice this month and it was pretty good – definitely a series I will be continuing with. I also got Two Can Keep A Secret, Girl of Glass and Too Close as well.

received for review

The Stone Rainbow by Liane Shaw | Kingdom Cold by Brittni Chenelle | Dark Rivers by Morgan Brice | The Phantom Forest by Liz Kerin

Just a handful of review copies this week. These all look really good so I’m keen to get stuck in as soon as possible. I am really loving the minimalist look of The Phantom Forest – simple yet effectively creepy.
