what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul

Sigh. Well this week happened. I was so disappointed by the season 4 finale of The Magicians. Like, more than I can adequately put into words. Everything about it came across as so tone-deaf I’m actually speechless. I don’t want to give away spoilers (and believe it or not but I haven’t even actually seen it all for myself being a UK viewer we are way behind the US) but what I have seen I am so shocked by. I can’t believe they thought that would ever be a good idea. I am gutted. Beyond gutted.

On the other hand, the Star Trek: Discovery finale was everything I wanted it to be and more. Some parts were so bloody sad but so well-executed and just so make me want season 3 already! I can’t be the only one hoping for a spin-off featuring Captain Pike and Spock either, can I? 😉

I haven’t been too bad with my purchases this week either though I was very happy to get some books and swag (hey, I’m only human after all!)

Nocturna by Maya Motayne | The Place on Dalhousie by Melina Marchetta | Hey, Dollface by Deborah Hautzig | The Hand, The Eye and The Heart by Zoë Marriott

I have been waiting for Jimmy’s story for such a long time so I am beyond happy to have The Place on Dalhousie in my hands (at last!) I am also super intrigued by Nocturna and The Hand, The Eye & The Heart (so was excited to get them in book boxes). I’ve also wanted to read Hey, Dollface for years so when I saw it going super cheap online I knew it was time to pick it up. 😉

Forever by Judy Blume | I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan | The Last April Dancers by Jean Thesman

I’m always happy to add any Pan Horizons editions to my shelves! I’ve been trying to get my hands on this edition of The Last April Dancers for a couple of years now so very happy to now have it in my collection. I also got a copy of Forever by Judy Blume in this month’s PATC box,  I already own this edition but this copy is in better condition so it’s all good! I’m also chuffed to get this earlier edition of I Know What You Did Last Summer – I already have one of the editions put out by Pan MacMillan but it is the newer version so it’s great getting the earlier cover. 😊

Easy Connections by Liz Berry | Easy Freedom by Liz Berry | Ella the Slayer by A.W. Exley | Alice by J.M. Sullivan | Sea of Dreams by C.L. Bevill | You Are Mine by Janeal Falor

I can’t believe I didn’t know that Easy Connections and Easy Freedom had been re-released last year! I’ve long wanted to read them but they were out-of-print for years (and any available copies were going for silly money). I got these on Kindle rather than paperback (mainly cause I’m running out of space for physical books again). I also some cool-looking freebies (what can I say, I can never pass up a freebie!) 😉
