what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul
Well, this week has been a bit of a bust, after a promising start I ended up being really ill even having to take a couple of days off work. Some kind of vomiting bug. I had just started feeling better when it flared up again today, just minutes before I was due to go out to see Tolkien at the cinema. Needless to say, I had to cancel plans. Hopefully will get to see it on Monday (since it’s a bank holiday here in the UK).
Otherwise, not a lot has been happening this week. Still recovering from this week’s battle at Winterfell in Game of Thrones (though it could have been a lot worse – no spoilers obviously). Really looking forward to the next episode!
on the blog:

weekly bookish purchases
The Dark Vault by V.E. Schwab | Descendant of the Crane by Joan He | A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
This week’s book haul includes two signed V.E. Schwab books and ‘Descendant of the Crane’ by Joan He. I can’t wait to crack these beauties open (not literally – I don’t like a cracked spine if I can help it!)
Close Enough to Touch by Richard by Peck | The Merro Tree Katie Waitman | Angel Face by Norma Klein
A couple of second-hand books also made their way into my collection this week. Love these vintage covers – I am trying to collect as many of the Pan McMillan (Horizons) books as possible. 😉
Written in Red by Anne Bishop | Star Wars Trilogy by Goerge Lucas, Donald F. Glut and James Kahn | Before the Broken Star by Emily R. King
I have been meaning to read this Anne Bishop series for years (as I’ve enjoyed her other works quite a bit) so I thought it was about time I picked it up!
Bacon Pie by Candace Robinson and Gerardo Delgadillo | Spinning Out by Lexi Ryan | Slave, Warrior, Queen by Morgan Rice
I’m really looking forward to reading Bacon Pie – it looks like a nice, frothy read which I’m kinda craving right now. 😉

Great haul! I haven’t had the best luck with V.E. Schwab.

I’m sorry you were sick! My mom also had a vomiting bug last week. I was so scared I was going to get it, but I seem to be doing fine, luckily!
My STS post!
