Stacking The Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking the Shelves
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
- Participants are to create their own Stacking the Shelves post and link bank to Tynga’s Reviews so more people can join the fun!
- Posts can be laid out any way you want.
- The host site posts updates on a Saturday but bloggers taking part can post any day they choose.
- Visit Tynga’s Reviews on a Saturday and add your link.
- Visit other participants sites to find out what they have added!
The rules are simple and it is a really fun way to showcase your books and see what other bloggers are excited about this week! Not to mention the fact that it is a good way to interact with and get to know other bloggers!

here are the books i added to my shelves this week:
I was on a bit of a vintage kick this week. I used to be a collector of various things: Living Dead Dolls, Action Figures etc. but due to lack of space I had to give up most of my collections. However, there is always room for books so I have made it a goal to collect vintage young adult books and eventually review them here on the blog. I really do enjoy revisiting old favourites and also discovering books I missed out on the first time round.
bought:
I won the second book in a giveaway (more details below) but I had to make sure I picked up the first book as I would never start reading a series at the second book! Two Boys Kissing was on sale for Kindle and I immediately snapped it up. It’s been on my wishlist for ages. I read a lot of Caroline B. Cooney as a teen but I honestly cannot remember reading the Losing Christina series although the story does sound familiar (maybe one I have read but forgotten??). I picked up the collection to check it out anyway as it looks really interesting.
The Midnight Club is a re-released version – I just love how retro the cover is!! I was able to pick this up new which was a bit of a bonus. I also picked up another couple of Christopher Pike books (used) including The Wicked Heart and Whisper of Death which I remember really enjoying as a teenager.
for review:
The review copies I got this week are certainly varied! I picked up Stripped with the Vampire and The Veil because I was in the mood for a bit of urban fantasy (not read any for ages). I also picked up Darkhaven which is straight-up fantasy – it looks really intriguing!
I love Emily Gee’s writing so I just had to request The Blood Curse. I also love Kelley York and was over the moon at getting approved for her latest novel. Song of the Sea Maid also looks really interesting – I just love the cover and the premise just drew me in as well. Can’t wait to start it.
giveaways:
Thanks to the lovely Diane @ Diane’s Book Blog for hosting this giveaway and to the author Michele Barrow-Belisle – I am really looking forward to reading this series.

I used to read some of these books when I was younger-I’d forgotten about Caroline B Cooney! I was addicted to the Cheerleaders series for a while. Ah good memories! Enjoy your books!
I remember the Cheerleaders series well – good times lol. 😉 t’s been fun collecting a lot of these books again. 🙂
Congrats on winning a book!! YAY. I love winning stuff although it doesn’t happen to me very often anymore, hehe. Zomg, I love the cover of Fire & Ice. I’m a sucker for a pretty looking dress. *nods*
My Stacking the Shelves!
Thanks! I am always way excited when I win a book – it always makes my day!!
Fire & Ice does have a stunning cover – I would looove to have a dress like that. 😉
This list has made me feel really nostalgic. I used to love reading Christopher Pike! I loved Caroline B Cooney too. I hope you enjoy your books Brin!
Thanks! I think I live in the past sometimes – I always look back at my past reads and want to re-read them all! I loved Christopher Pike as a teen and felt so grown-up reading his books (which is strange because I read Stephen King at the same time which are far more ‘adult’). Caroline B. Cooney was another favourite. I loved her ‘Dance’ series and also The Face on the Milk Carton. 🙂
Awesome haul this week. I always like winning books. It makes me happy. The Veil has a great cover.

Thanks Sofia! I had a lot of fun picking these books up this week. Hope you enjoy your books. Mistwood has a really interesting cover. 🙂
Those Christopher Pike covers are pretty awesome. I miss seeing illustrated covers like that.
I know right? I miss the old style covers too! The Pike covers were always something else (the US covers were always more interesting than the UK ones). 🙂
Oh, I remember the Pike books from when I was a teenager. Me and my friends thought they were such a grown-up thing to read. 🙂 I’m amused at myself looking back.
Lol – I was totally the same (none of my friends read his books though so I really didn’t have anyone to share them with). The plots are pretty crazy when you re-read them. 🙂
I actually finished Modern Monsters a few weeks ago, it was my first Kelley York book and I really, really enjoyed it! I really want to read Two Boys Kissing, I’ve heard great things about it 😀
Happy reading!
Kelley York is amazeballs! I am really glad to hear you enjoyed Modern Monsters. I would highly recommend reading Hushed and Suicide Watch – they are both pretty powerful.
