The Addictive Blog Award
I was recently nominated for The Addictive Blog Award by the lovely Nagina @ OhBookish. A huge thank you to Nagina for the nomination – it really brightened up an otherwise miserable day *grumble* winter weather sucks! It’s funny that Nagina nominated me for this as OhBookish is definitely a blog that I would consider myself to be ‘addicted’ to – anyone reading this should definitely swing by!
Here are the rules for the award:
- Thank the person awarding you.
- Share a little about why you blog and how the journey started.
- Paste the blog award on your page.
- Nominate 10 other bloggers you feel deserve the award.
Why I Blog:
I have always loved reading and writing but never really had a proper outlet to express myself. I signed up to Goodreads and really enjoyed being able to share my thoughts on the books that I loved. I also enjoyed the interaction with other readers. Still, I found something a little bit lacking. I decided to sign up to Booklikes which has a bit more of a blogger/tumblr feel and really enjoyed the freedom of being able to share my opinions on stuff and discuss things with other like-minded folks.
I finally decided to take the plunge and started up this WordPress blog in August 2013. I had dabbled around with LiveJournal previously but didn’t really get into it. With WordPress, something just clicked. I started off just posting my reviews and then life stuff caused me to go on a hiatus for a few months just when I was starting to gather steam.
I had a lot of really crappy things going on in my personal life but I decided to make a concentrated effort to really try to get involved with the blogging community. I have met some really amazing people through blogging and they have really helped me get through the difficult times.
I also discovered that although I started out just wanting to share my thoughts on books, I genuinely love coming up with discussion posts on all sorts of subjects. Although my blog is primarily a book blog, I like to discuss other things I enjoy too and absolutely love it when other bloggers share their thoughts too – I get so excited when I see there is a new comment!! 😀 Blogging has really opened up my world.

YOU ARE TOO KIND, BRIN.
I feel like most book bloggers start off with writing reviews and then branch off into greatness. Personally, I still find content curating unique discussion posts to be rather difficult–and I’m not sure that’s something time will fix!
Cheers,

It can be difficult coming up with unique topics for discussion – I struggle with that A LOT lol. I think personally that you have a really unique voice and I really enjoy visiting your blog and reading your comments. I usually come away looking at things a little differently (which is great because for the most part I am really stuck in my ways). 😉
Stop it, you.
But if I can inspire some (any) thought than I am alright with that.
🙂

Thank you!
You are most welcome!! 🙂
I cannot help but to feel utter shame and pride at the same time ha ha! Thanks for the nomination 😀

Thanks again, Brin! I nominated you right back! LOL! Of course, you don’t have to participate AGAIN, but wanted to let you know that I find your site “addicting” too! https://aprillwood.wordpress.com/2014/12/19/the-addictive-blog-award-why-i-blog/
