The Friday 56
I decided it would be fun to take part in another weekly meme! This time it’s the Friday 56, which looks like fun and a great way to be part of the bookish community!
The rules are as follows:
- Grab a book, any book
- Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader
- Find any sentence (or a few, just don’t spoil it) that grabs you
- Post it
- Add your URL post in the link on Freda’s most recent Friday 56 post

Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens
An edgy, realistic, and utterly captivating novel from an exciting new voice in teen fiction.
Alexi Littrell hasn’t told anyone what happened to her over the summer. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.
When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in “the Kool-Aid Kid,” who has secrets of his own. As they lean on each other for support, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her find the courage to finally face the truth.
A searing, poignant book, Faking Normal is the extraordinary debut novel from an exciting new author-Courtney C. Stevens.
Synopsis from Goodreads
56%:
“Bodee is standing by the light switch. He’s shirtless. His hair is sticking out everywhere. But there’s something about seeing him this way that helps me understand how complex he is. More teenager than man on the outside; more man than teenager on the inside.”

I need to learn more about this author!
Happy weekend!
Same to you!
It was a really excellent debut – well worth checking out. 😀
This sounds like a terrific novel. The Friday 56 excerpt intrigued me and made me want to know these characters better.
My Friday post features a short story this week: INTERCEPTION.
It is really good – a very promising debut!!
