The YA Prom

Well, YA Prom is a lot like regular prom. But this time you can skip waiting anxiously for that perfect boy to ask you, obsessively rifling through clothing stores for the perfect dress, all that other perfect jazz, and go straight to the partying on twitter in your pajamas!

All you really have to do to join The YA Prom is:

1. Write a post detailing who your YA date is (ex: Harry from Harry Potter), what you’re wearing, and any other information you deem necessary.
2. Post said post on your blog/tumblr/wherever by June 25th at 8:30pm and link up to the Linky that will appear on both Gaby and Alexa’s blogs when their prom posts go up.
3. Pop onto Twitter at 8:30pm on June 25th and, using the hashtag #YAProm, spend an hour with your twitter friends celebrating YA, prom, and other excellent things!

Please note the following:

-If you don’t have a blog or a tumblr, you can still join us. Let everyone know who you’re going with and what you’re wearing in a tweet and use that tweet to link up on June 25th in the Linky that will be on Gaby and Alexa’s blogs.-We’d love for EVERYONE to join – authors, bloggers, book aficionados… this prom is for all of the people of the interwebs.

So, mark your calendars, pick your YA date, do a little shopping, and we’ll you at the YA Prom!

(Much love from your Prom Committee: Gaby and Alexa)

So, being a Scottish lass, I actually never attended prom (they only had dances in my day – and no – I’m not really old!!). Proms have taken off over here in a pretty big way but since I never actually had one to attend, I just had to take part in this!

This is what my prom night would look like:

Prom Night

Dress

I love floaty, shimmery dresses and this one really is stunning!

Hair

I love an updo and this is a really simple but elegant style.

Shoes

I would love to wear heals but sadly I have been unable to wear them since I tore up all my muscle in the back of my calf about 6 years ago. Nevermind, flats are much more comfortable anyways!

Eye Make-up

Just the right mix of sultry and girly!

Date

Gansey from the Raven Boys Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater – the perfect boy!!

Venue

This may sound a little bit odd (but then I am a little bit odd so that fits!) but I would love the setting to be like the goblin ball in Labyrinth!!

  1. I don’t think it’s odd at all that your perfect setting would be something like the goblin ball. That was a pretty epic movie and it would be so cool to experience something like it! The dress is gorg and the shoes are perfect! See ya at the prom! 😉

I love the dress and the shoes!! Everything about your prom look actually 🙂 And Gansey would be an awesome date! Although he might make you take a trip to Wales to hunt for mythological kings 😉

    • They are really pretty – I kind-of wish I was going!!

Gansey = <3 Lol you are totally right – he would too! (I wouldn't mind as long as he let me stop and change first – don't want to get my dress all dirty)!!

    • I would <3 to own that dress! Gansey really would be the perfect date (I was totally torn between Gansey and Adrian Ivashkov but Gansey edged out the sexy vampire!) 😉

    • Labyrinth was one of my favourite films as a youngster!! It still holds up well – you should definitely re-watch. 🙂

I love your dress selection too – it is absolutely stunning!!
