Stacking the Shelves #120

stacking the shelves bookish haul

Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s ReviewsReading Reality

what I have been up to

I’ve been somewhat thrifty for the last few weeks, not necessarily by choice – I’m kinda skint right now! Otherwise, it has been a bit of a crappy couple of weeks for me. I somehow managed to get locked out completely from my blog last weekend, which is why I didn’t post a book haul last week. It was a bit of a nightmare, if I’m being honest.

After a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (and lots of help from my much-more-patient other half!) I was able to eventually get back in. However, the last thing I felt like doing was compiling a post so I decided to take a wee break.

I did have a STS post partially completed but I had to roll my blog back a couple of days so everything after that was lost. Luckily, there wasn’t too much to lose but it definitely gave me a bit of a scare!

Work has been really stressful and draining so I haven’t had a lot of time to devote to reading or blogging. I’m hoping to get back on track soon though.

Thrifty Times = Fewer Books Bought

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik | Merlin’s Moon by Annabelle Jay | The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley | The Bedlam Stacks by Natasha Pulley

I actually got ‘Spinning Silver’ a whole week ahead of its release date! Not to mention the fact that I was lucky enough to snag a signed copy (and that cover – I’m in love). I’m also really excited to read ‘The Watchmaker of Filigree Street’ and ‘The Bedlam Stacks’. They both look so good (and the covers are something else too!) I also finally got ‘Merlin’s Moon’. I ordered it the same time as the rest of the series but it took a little longer to get here.

The Possession by Jesse Harris | Devil Wind by Laurie Bridges & Paul Alexander

Only a couple of vintage books this week (with more on the way, natch) but they are pretty good ones. I’m trying to get the whole series ‘The Power’ and I’m always chuffed to find a ‘Dark Forces’ novel! Trying to be thrifty but it ain’t always easy!

A Killer’s Mind by Mike Omer | Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan | I Know My First Name Is Steven by Mike Echols | The Wendy by Erin Michelle Sky

I really looking forward to reading the Percy Jackson series. I’ve heard so many good things. I’m also really looking forward to reading ‘A Killer’s Mind’ and ‘The Wendy’. I remember seeing the television movie about Steven Stayner years and years ago. It was a heart-wrenching experience and I never forgot it. I thought it was about time I read the book. Tissues at the ready!

Something About You by Riley Hart | Teeth by Zaya Feli | Scorpio Hates Virgo by Anyta Sunday | Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart

Riley Hart usually delivers so ‘Something About You’ should be good. I also really can’t wait to read ‘Teeth’. Already have eARC’s for both ‘Scorpio Hates Virgo’ and ‘Genuine Fraud’ (which reminds me I’ve still got them to read). However, I love a bargain and can’t resist!

Perfect Harmony by Emily Albright | Mr Blue Sky by John Darke | Crying Out Silent by Marita A. Hansen | Love at First Hate by J.L. Merrow

Not too many ARC’s this week (I can be thrifty in some ways ya know!) These all look really intriguing though so I couldn’t resist picking up a couple.

  1. I still think that’s a heck of a haul. I’m curious about Teeth so I’m gonna hop over to Goodreads and see what it’s about. I love vintage books and have been trying to find some vintage horror ones myself.
