Books I Could Re-read Forever

Top Ten Books I Could Re-read Forever

I love to re-read my favourite books – there are some books that I know I will return to forever. The books I’ve re-read most throughout my life are probably The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and Watership Down by Richard Adams. This is partly because I first read them when I was so young (I was nine when I read them both) but furthermore because they are such fantastic reads.

I am not going to include these two books because it has been a long time since I read LotR (I think the last time I did was when I was still in high school). Watership Down has been almost as long. I do know I will return to them again one day because they are my forever favourites but today I’m going to focus on newer reads.

1. Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier

This series is so beautifully written and is very special to me. Furthermore, it is full of amazing characters and the story is just beyond compare.

2. Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb

My favourite series bar none. I grew up with Fitz and the Fool. I felt their pain and their sorrow and their joy. They are probably the most important literary characters to me. I know I will forever love and cherish this series.

3. All for the Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic

A more recent favourite (I read it for the first time last month) but these characters are just something special. I know it will be a series I will go back to again and again (I’ve already read through it five times).

4. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I credit this book with finally getting me out of a years-long reading slump. I love Baz and Simon and I know I will be returning to their world as often as I am able.

5. The Doctrine of Labyrinths series by Sarah Monette

It is criminal that this series is not more well-known because it is fantastic; the characters are seriously flawed but undeniably endearing. I know it will be a series that I will always keep in my heart.

6. Warchild series by Karin Lowachee

I love science fiction but it can often be too cold and clinical for my liking. This series is outstanding because it is very much a character-driven narrative but the story and setting are also so involving and engrossing.

7. Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy was the series that got me back into reading YA (as an adult). It will always be dear to me because of this and in addition it definitely helps that it is blindingly awesome too!

8. The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater

This series… I honestly have no words. It is a series I will treasure and I know I will definitely want to re-read it for many, many years to come!

9. Kushiel’s Universe Series by Jacqueline Carey

I cannot get enough of this rich, sumptuous world. Jacqueline Carey is a master at her craft because she is able to create such a detailed world with characters you want to keep with you always because they are so amazing.

10. Falling Kingdoms series by Morgan Rhodes

What can I say about this series that hasn’t already been said? It’s one of my all-time favourites mainly because it manages to keep you always second guessing what is going on and is therefore a fantasy that will appeal to younger and older readers alike.
