Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s is a Freebie week so the theme I have chosen is my:
Top Ten Favourite Book Covers
Now, this is a topic I can get behind (ahem). I love book covers – must be the art lover in me – and sometimes buy books based on the cover alone (shameful I know, but it is what it is). 😉
Heir to Sevenwaters by Juliet Marillier: I own the hardback cover of this book and it is simply stunning. You need to see the full wrap-around to get the full effect. There is nothing I don’t like about this cover. It has fairy tale elements; it’s somewhat whimsical and spooky at the same time. It’s not my favourite Sevenwaters book but the romance between Clodagh and Cathal is definitely my favourite and I love how they are both depicted.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness: I haven’t actually read the book yet but the cover is gloriously creepy! I just adore everything about it. I love art that looks a little scary and twisted and this cover delivers that and then some!
Black Spring by Alison Croggon: This cover is delightfully creepy. The picture above actually doesn’t do it justice. I have a copy in paperback and it is just stunning to look at.
Cress by Marissa Meyer: This is actually the French cover of Cress (which I do not own because I can’t speak or read French!) but I absolutely adore it and would likely buy it just so it could look pretty sitting on my shelf!
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte: This is one of my favourite classic books and this cover just really appeals to me (sadly it is not the edition I own). It just really conveys the gothic atmosphere of the book.
Made You Up by Francesca Zappia: I love the colours on this. I really love watercolour paintings and this just speaks to me for some reason. I just think it is really pretty but a little sad at the same time.
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman: Dragons! Dragons!! DRAGONS!!! I love dragons so this cover is a win for me. Plus, I love the whole illustration vibe. I do not have this cover either unfortunately. When the book originally came out in the UK in hardback it had a different cover which was not as unique (just a girl standing with a dragon’s eye behind her). If you click on the link you can see the cover I own.
The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman: So pretty! I just love this cover so much. It is delicate and just simply magical. I love the graphical elements mixed in with the illustration.
A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray: I love the symmetry of this cover and the gorgeous colours. I really regret not picking up a physical copy (I bought it on Kindle) because I could literally stare at this all day. 😉
Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier: Another Marillier book (her covers are generally lovely as a rule) this one is just so evocative and intricate. There are so many tiny details that you really have to peer to see properly. It’s simply beautiful.

I have Heir to Sevenwaters in paperback with this cover, but you are right, I wish I owned it in hardback because it is beautiful. All these are gorgeous covers and I love the little details on the Wildwood Dancing cover too. Look at Gogu!
My TTT
Heir to Sevenwaters is such a stunning cover. I am a little bummed that the rest of the books don’t match though because I had to buy the US versions.
Wildwood Dancing’s cover is so detailed – Gogu looks adorbs!! 😀
All of these are awesome! My favorites are A Thousand Pieces of You and Made You Up, I love the colors 🙂

I love the cover for Black Spring! It definitely captures your attention.
It really does – I admit it was the cover that made me pick it up in the first place. lol 😉
