Paranormal & Fantasy Challenge 2014
I thought it was time I did a blog post on another challenge which I am excited about this year: the Paranormal & Fantasy Challenge 2014 – which is hosted by ♥!The Young Adult Book Club!♥ on Goodreads. I took part in this challenge last year and easily managed to reach my goal of 50 paranormal and fantasy books relatively early on. I thought about challenging myself to even more books this year since it was quite an attainable goal to reach last year. However, I have decided to cut back on the amount of books I am going to read over the next 12 months, and I am aiming to try and select books a little more carefully (of course where would the fun be in having a totally regimented list to read – sometimes its the greatest thing to have a spontaneous read and when you enjoy the book, it is that much more fulfilling). Therefore this year I have set my goal to 20 books.
Here are the rules of the Paranormal & Fantasy Challenge:
- Read at least 5 paranormal or fantasy books. Any books in these genres you choose.
As with my TBR Challenge, I have come up with a vague list of books that I own/want to own that would fit the above criteria but although I intend to choose carefully I am not going to set out a list ahead of time (because that would take a little of the fun away!). Instead I will choose as I go along, bearing in mind what books I have in my collection or which books I intend to buy over the course of the year. I have a few books which may cross-over my various challenges (sometimes that cannot be helped) but I will try and keep the books for each challenge separate whenever possible.
I will update this post as I go along and cross-reference my review for each book.
The first book I am going to read for this challenge is Secret by Brigid Kemmerer. It is not actually out until January 28 2014 but you can bet once I have it in my grubby little paws it will take priority (since I have been waiting on Nick’s story with baited breath!). I became a big fan of this series last year and Secret and Sacrifice (Michael’s book – due out later this year) are two of my most highly anticipated releases of 2014.
