Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This weekโs theme is:
Top Ten Books To Read If You Like These TV Shows
I love books and I love TV shows – so a topic that combines the two? Totally ideal! There are many books that I think of when watching my favourite TV shows. Here are some books I would recommend based on some of my favourite shows:
1. Buffy = Vampire Academy
This one seems like a bit of a no-brainer really. Even though in Buffy vamps are the baddies (and they are not so much in VA – well except for the creepy-as-all-hell Strigoi) there are a lot of similarities between the two (most notably a kick-ass lead heroine and a ‘turned’ love interest).
2. TBBT = How to Repair A Mechanical Heart
Not as obvious a connection but there are enough parallels that I am running with it! Lord knows, the boys in The Big Bang Theory attend enough sci-fi conventions!
3. The Walking Dead = This is Not a Test
Zombies! Zombies everywhere! Both of these have at times been pretty terrifying so there are a whole lot of similarities.
4. Battlestar Galactica = Across the Universe
Eh, because they are both set in space? Honestly, both are pretty cerebral but the main connection is the space thing.
5. Once Upon A Time = The Lunar Chronicles
Fairytales and fairytale retellings! Honestly, I think these are pretty similar on the surface (except for the futuristic aspect of the Lunar Chronicles).
6. Veronica Mars = the Lynburn Legacy
Plucky, short girl main character? Check! Investigative angle? Check! Asshole-ish love interest with a hidden soft, gooey centre? Check! Love triangle? Check (unfortunately). Awesome anyways? Check!!
7. Fringe = Unraveling series
These both have a science fiction bent mainly concerning alternate realities and the like. I haven’t actually watched all of Fringe but I have it on good authority that it is a solid TV show.
8. Freaks & Geeks = Eleanor & Park
Both set in the 1980s, about high school outsiders who don’t fit in with any of the popular crowd. There are quite a few parallels with these and if you love Freaks & Geeks, you probably will enjoy Eleanor & Park too!
9. Felicity = Fangirl
Felicity and Fangirl are both about shy young women who are grappling with leaving home and going to college. It’s not the best example on this list but I still feel like Felicity fans would enjoy Fangirl.
10. Teen Wolf = the Darkest Powers
Both of these have werewolves and other paranormal entities as main characters. They are also all about discovering other sides of yourself and growing up. The good stuff!

Awesome post! I’ll try “This is Not a Test”.
This is Not a Test is really fantastic!
Very nice and I must agree with your pics for Veronica Mars, The Walking Dead, and Once Upon a Time. I made my list for Veronica Mars if you want to check it out.
Some great selections in your list for Veronica Mars. I hadn’t thought of the Outsiders but you’re right – there are very similar themes (and Veronica even quotes the movie in the series!) ๐
The Felicity = Fangirl reference has me curious. I loved Felicity. ๐
The fish-out-of-water feeling in prominant in both (but I think Cath is much geekier than Felicity ever was!) ๐
Love your list ๐ Definitely added a few new reads to my TBR,
Cora @ Tea Party Princess
Thanks! I checked your list out – I used to love watching Skins (the first two series were my favourites). I haven’t read any of the books on your TTT but I will definitely need to check them out! ๐
