Authors I Own the Most Bookish Merch From

I’m a day late (again!) and already spinning this week’s topic a wee bit because I have already done a post about Authors I’ve Read the Most Books By which was the original prompt (you can see this post here). Instead, I’m listing the authors whose books have inspired me to buy bookish merch relating to their books / book series! And no – I’m not including Harry Potter related stuff!! Also not including any gaming or Disney related merch because I would be here all day!! True story. 😉

1. Sarah J. Maas

bookish merch

I’ve read A Court of Thorns and Roses (henceforth referred to as ACOTAR) but I haven’t read any of the Throne of Glass series or Crescent City as yet. However, I do have merch for these (I actually bought merch for ACOTAR before I had read it, go figure).

I’m not the biggest fan of Sarah J. Maas but I tend to buy cool merch regardless. There is some really gorgeous art and other stuff for her works and I tend to like pretty art no matter what it is for!

2. Holly Black

bookish merch

I actually am a huge fan of Holly Black, especially her Folk of the Air series. I have tonnes of merch for this series (which is kinda funny considering that a lot of the unofficial merch has more or less been halted, at the request of the author). Luckily, I got most of my merch before the crackdown.

You can still get official artwork – mostly in book boxes etc. – so it’s not a total loss. I’m always on the lookout for more stuff for this series because Jude and Cardan give me life!

3. Rainbow Rowell

bookish merch

I have quite a bit of merch for Carry On (one of my all-time favourite series!) mostly bookmarks and candles but I also have some stuff for Fangirl and Eleanor & Park too.

There isn’t as much merch out there for Carry On as there is for ACOTAR, or the Folk of the Air series even, but if there is some I will find it and buy it! I’ve gotten a couple of custom pieces of jewellery made and I’m always on the lookout for more Simon and Baz merchandise.

4. V.E. Schwab

bookish merch

A Darker Shade of Magic (or ADSOM, if you prefer) is a series I had heard about for yonks but I only read it a year or so back. Wish I had read it earlier because it is fantastic!

I had actually bought some merch for this series (and a couple of special edition book boxes!) prior to reading so I’m glad the series lived up to its hype because it would have been an expensive caper otherwise haha! 😆

5. Stephen King

bookish merch

To be honest, this is mainly because of IT the film rather than the book (well, mostly). IT has always been my favourite Stephen King novel but I only really started getting merch because of the popularity of the recent films (although, I also have some merch inspired by the 1990s miniseries too!)

There is just something relatable about the Losers Club, the characters and story have always resonated with me (some… erm… weird plot turns aside).

6. Nora Sakavic

bookish merch

The All for the Game series is one of my all-time favourite reads (I first read it about two-and-a-half years ago and have re-read countless times since!) It’s just so addictive – it’s become a bit of a comfort read for me.

There isn’t a huge amount of merch out there but there is some and I am very thankful for it. I even commissioned a custom candle for my OTP ‘Andreil’ i.e. Andrew and Neil.

7. Maggie Stiefvater

bookish merch

I do have some merch for The Scorpio Races but my main fandom is The Raven Cycle – I just love those Raven Boys (and Blue of course, cannot forget Blue!)

This series was probably one of my very first merch obsessions – I bought so much art for this (especially for my other favourite pairing – Pynch!!) I haven’t bought much lately but I know when I inevitably re-read the series I will again be on the hunt for related merchandise! It’s what I do… 😉

8. Leigh Bardugo

bookish merch

This is kinda a funny one because I’ve actually only ever read the first book in the Grisha Trilogy! I have all the rest of the books in the series plus Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, and King of Scars, but i haven’t read them yet. 🙈

I did like the first book (and I was especially intrigued by the Darkling) so I know I will read them at some point. Not reading them yet hasn’t stopped me buying merch for the series though! What can I say? The merch is very cool…

9. Lewis Carroll

bookish merch

Considering how long ago Alice in Wonderland was first published… it’s pretty funny that I have so much merch for these books! I’ve always loved the story (I blame Disney for that!) and I enjoy collecting different Alice editions so it makes sense that I would like the merch too.

I have pretty varied merch for this – book sleeves, bookmarks, Funko Pops etc. but my favourites are probably some of the Alice-inspired jewellery I have collected over the years.

10. Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (MXTX)

bookish merch

Last, but by no means least, is my latest obsession – The Untamed a.k.a Chén Qíng Lìng. Mo Dao Zu Shi (or Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation) is an online web novel by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu. I watched The Untamed (the live action series based on MDZS) last November and it has pretty much taken over my life!

Although I have yet to finish the book (hey, it’s long and doesn’t have an official English translation as yet, although there are fan translations – the one I’m currently making my way through has been translated by the lovely folks at Exiled Rebels Scanlations) I have amassed a fairly large collection of merchandise. Not just for this series but also MXTX’s other works (and I’ll get to reading them eventually too – mark my words!)

Seriously, I have so much merch for this and I have no intention of stopping any time soon! To say I am obsessed is an understatement…

Well, peeps, hope I haven’t bored you all too much with my favourite bookish fandoms! I love buying merch (and talking about merch) and tend to get a bit carried away!! 🤣
