Flailing and Fangirling: Dragon Age: Inquisition

Now, I may have mentioned a time or two on this blog that I am a bit of a gamer. I particularly love RPG’s. I have already discussed my love of BioWare games but I don’t think I have ever been as excited for a game as I am for Dragon Age: Inquisition. With every news reveal I get more and more excited for this game!

Gamescom is this week (held in Cologne) and I have spent most of this morning catching up on all the latest news about Dragon Age. I was also really excited to see that there was a new trailer – and it is glorious!!

Not only did this trailer feature Cullen (finally walking and talking!) but it also showed Solas, Cole, and Dorian!! Colour me excited!

      • Have you played all of the Dragon Age games? I would have to say Dragon Age: Origins is my favorite. I’m excited to see what all they do with this new game.

        • Yup, played all of ’em. 😉

I agree with you on Dragon Age: Origins. I played it so much I actually wore out my Xbox 360 (got the ‘red ring of death’ – had to buy a new one lol). I like DA2 but did find it to be rather rushed out. Still a good game though.

The new game (from what I have seen) is looking to be something else though – it looks really incredible! 😀

          • haha, poor Xbox 360. I agree with you on DA2. It was a good game, but I feel it didn’t live up to DA: Origins.

From what I’ve seen and read about Dragon Age: Inquisition, it’s going to be awesome. I wish we didn’t have to wait. I’m ready for it now. 🙂

  1. That looks really cool, I get confused about RPG’s. So is that like Final Fantasy where you don’t really control the character and just choose what it does and then watch the little guy go and do it or do you get to control what happens? It looks cool if you get to actually control your character..I like games like Assassin’s Creed. 🙂

    • You control your character in Dragon Age. There is a tactical element as well (you can pause and set up actions/commands for your character and your companions) but you still control what you do. You can pretty much choose to charge in and just fight but I find it better to employ a bit of tactics as well. You have different buttons assigned for certain types of attacks (which you can assign yourself).

The fighting isn’t exactly the same as a game like Assassin’s Creed (which I also love!) but it is not turn-based like the older Final Fantasy games. There are a lot of combat videos on YouTube which would probably give you a better idea about the fighting style. 😉

I like the DA games because they have really immersive storylines but the combat is fun too so it is really the best of both worlds. You might also want to check out the Mass Effect series. 🙂
