New-to-Me Authors I Read In 2018
I think I actually did quite well branching out into new authors in 2018. I have a tendency to stick to the same authors and while there is nothing wrong with that it has sometimes stopped me from finding new great reads. I’m glad to be reading more diversely again!
I read my first book by this dynamic author duo in 2018 (Autoboyography) and it ended up being one of my favourite reads of the year. It was sweet, thought-provoking and just generally a great story. I’m definitely going to seek more of this talented pair’s work!
Why oh why has it taken me so long to pick up a Ginn Hale book? It’s not like I wasn’t aware of her books – they were always being recommended to me because I love similar authors such as Sarah Monette. I am annoyed at myself but I have to say it made for a great year diving into her books for the first time. So far, I’ve read the Lord of the White Hell and the Champion of the Scarlet Wolf books. I will definitely be diving into the Rifter series next!
I read Jennifer Cosgrove’s debut A Boy Worth Knowing last year and it was a definitely a gripping story with very lovable characters. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what else she comes out with – I do so love finding new authors!
I have been aware of Laura Lascarso for awhile but it took me until 2018 to finally get to one of her books. I read When Everything Is Blue and then quickly sought out the rest of her books which I have steadily been making my way through.
I was only made aware of Melanie Hansen’s writing in 2018 but I very quickly became a fan after reading (and loving) the emotionally devastating Point of Contact. I have since read most of her other works and they are just as great (but just as sad!)
Words cannot describe how much I adore Natalia Jaster’s writing! I first became aware of her books when an artist I follow on Tumblr did a couple of fanarts of the characters from her Foolish Kingdoms series. I was intrigued and went out and bought the available books right away. I was blown away. Such a great series and the characters are incredible. Definitely a new favourite author!
I am obsessed with the All for the Game series. It took over my life for a few months and I keep returning to it over and over again. I can’t believe I waited so long to read this series – I have had the first book on my Kindle since 2013 for gawd sake!! Kicking myself royally now. Nora Sakavic is a writing genius and I am a fan for life!
Been Here All Along was a sweet little read and I very much enjoyed Sandy Hall’s easy writing style. I am really excited to read more of her writing and I’m definitely going to make time for her other books this year (sooner rather than later).
Schwab is a god. That is all. No seriously, I read the Shades of Magic series near the end of last year and I am totally wowed. I can see that all the hype has not been exaggerated. I cannot wait to read the rest of her books (I have been accumulating them over the last wee while). 😉
I read Teeth by Zaya Feli and then immediately went back and read her earlier series Iron Breakers upon finishing it. So, so, good. I cannot wait for the follow-up to Teeth and have definitely put the author on my auto-buy list!

All of these authors sound interesting. I’m glad you liked them so much.
This is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Schwab was on my list too! And I agree she is a GOD! I can’t believe I waited until 2018 to read her books!!
I’m so happy that you discovered Christina Lauren! I’ve read their Beautiful series (which I recommend if you’re in the mood for something sexy), but haven’t gotten around to their other books yet. I really want to get to read Roomies because I’ve heard great things. V.E. Schwab though, she’s grown on me! (I have a lot-hate relationship with the Darker Shades trilogy.) Wonderful post!
Here’s my TTT if you’d like to take a peek. 😀
Scwab was new to me in 2018. After I finish A Conjuring Of Light, I’m not sure I’ll be reading any more from her…

I loved your list and the GIFs look so pretty!
I also read The Shades of Magic trilogy near the end of the year and loved the series too. Then I went to my library and picked up “City of Ghosts” and “Vengeful” just because I love her writing. I didn’t put her on my Top Ten because I’ve read “Vicious” years ago. I do want to give Jennifer Cosgrove a try because “A Boy Worth Knowing” has been on my TBR for a while.
