Bookstagram Theme: Yay or Nay?
It’s no secret that I love Bookstagram (I do, I LOVE it!) although I do struggle to balance keeping up with posting regularly and I find it virtually impossible to keep a consistent theme. I’ve read a lot of posts from successful bookstagrammers who say that consistency is key (which I totally agree with) but most of these lovely peeps also advise that having a theme and sticking to it is the best way to attract followers.
Don’t get me wrong, I love some of these themes. So much work and effort clearly goes into each and every photo. It certainly pays off. The biggest accounts seem to be the ones with a clean and stylized theme. I love to look at their feeds. But I know I could never try to emulate them.
For Me: Nay
Not only because it wouldn’t be right copying someone else’s style (nope, nope, NOPE) but a big part of this is that I am just not a super-consistent person. I am changeable by nature. Something I like one day is something I don’t like the next. It’s part of the reason why my blog has had so many makeovers (and don’t get me started on my Tumblr!)
I honestly wish I could stick with a theme because so many accounts I follow have such gorgeous themes. I really admire them for being able to come up with so many ideas and yet keep them interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
I’ve got a decent following but I’ll never be one of the big bookstagram accounts. And I’m okay with that. I like being a bit muddled and inconsistent! A theme is something I would love to be able to keep up. However, I know for a fact it wouldn’t last. I get bored way too easily! 😉
For You: Yay or Nay?

I don’t think I have a theme… but then again maybe my lack of theme could be a theme in itself XD
I’m with ya! I couldn’t stick to a theme. I think i’d feel too restricted. Like what if i want to post something but it just doesn’t fit??
I do enjoy looking at those accounts with themes tho… it’s eye candy!
Themes look great when you are looking at someone’s posts all together. It makes their page very aesthetically pleasing! But its kind of boring. Sometimes you get the same picture with just different books over and over again. So I like variety and no themes and messiness!
Two days ago Buzz Feed posted an article titled “Blake Lively Thinks She’s Bad At Instagram And I’ve Never Related To Something More” and its awesome! Its pretty much the same idea haha Blake compares her messy feed to someones who’s is “highly-curated” but I like Blake’s better!
Is bad photography a theme? I’m pretty sure that’s my theme. Bookstagram is hard enough for me without having to stick to a theme. I just do the best I can and have fun with it.
