Stacking The Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews

Stacking the Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

  • Participants are to create their own Stacking the Shelves post and link bank to Tynga’s Reviews so more people can join the fun!
  • Posts can be laid out any way you want.
  • The host site posts updates on a Saturday but bloggers taking part can post any day they choose.
  • Visit Tynga’s Reviews on a Saturday and add your link.
  • Visit other participants sites to find out what they have added!

The rules are simple and it is a really fun way to showcase your books and see what other bloggers are excited about this week! Not to mention the fact that it is a good way to interact with and get to know other bloggers!

here are the books i added to my shelves this week:

I am really late with this post. I wasn’t feeling all that great yesterday so everything kind-of fell by the wayside. Ah well, better late than never!

bought:

I adore the cover for Extraordinary Means! I also rather like the Paper Towns cover, even though normally I wouldn’t opt for the movie tie-in version. This one works for me though – and hey look – it’s Cara Delevingne again! 😉 I also picked up The One I Was because the synopsis sounds amazing.

ebay haul:

I picked up some more vintage young adult books on Ebay last week. I mentioned them in last week’s post but I didn’t include them because I hadn’t received the package yet. One seller had a lot of vintage teen books up so I couldn’t resist buying them! I’ve actually only read two of the books before so I am looking forward to reading the rest. The seller included a little note about where they had purchased the books (in the US) and that they hoped I enjoyed them as much as they had which was really thoughtful and sweet of them.

I always rather fancied reading this Janice Harrell series when I was a teenager (I think I even requested it from the library a couple of times) but I can’t recall ever actually getting around to reading it. It looks like a really interesting read.

The Murder Game and Dead Girl’s Can’t Scream are another couple of Janice Harrell books (I haven’t read these either but I do remember loving her Vampire Twins trilogy so fingers crossed that I enjoy these too). I have read The Mall by Richie Tankersley Cusick (I loved the Point Horror series to distraction when I was a tween/teen) but I am loving the US cover – very different from the UK version.

I am pretty sure I read some of The Nightmare Club books when I was younger but it was so long ago I can’t really remember which ones). Joyride and The Initiation look like proper vintage teen horror. I never read The Photographer or its sequel but I have the first one already so I am happy to pick up the second book as well.

I was a huge fan of Joan Lowery Nixon back in the day and I am looking forward to re-reading Whispers from the Dead. I can remember really enjoying it the first time round. The Weirdo is one I actually hadn’t heard of but it looks awesome and I am really excited to read it (probably even slightly more than the rest).

freebies:

18806007

I cam across this book on another blog and thought it looked pretty interesting. As I was checking it out I noticed it was free for Kindle so I just had to snap it up. I love it when that happens!

for review:

I have been trying to cut back on requesting review copies until I catch up with the ones I’ve got but I did get a couple which look pretty darn interesting.

some pictures of my latest acquisitions:

I just can’t resist taking a few photos when I get physical copies. I really love how all the vintage books look – the covers are so old-fashioned but completely awesome at the same time! *sigh* I miss the 80s/90s trends on book covers. They were just so much fun. 🙂

Thanks! I really can’t wait to read Extraordinary Means. I was going to hold off buying it but when I saw it in the shop I just couldn’t resist. 😉

I have seen a lot of cover girls that look similar to Cara – which is odd because she does have quite an unusually distinctive look. 🙂
