A to Z Bookish Survey Tag

This was devised a year ago but Jamie resurrected it recently as the A to Z Bookish Survey Tag on YouTube. Now, I do not have a YouTube channel (I’m oddly shy like that!) but I really wanted to take part so figured it would be OK to do a post for my Blog? Right? Outstanding!

let’s go! let’s go let’s go!

Author you’ve read the most books from:

Enid Blyton (I’m totally not counting Francine Pascal since she actually hired ghost-writers for Sweet Valley High 😉 ).

If you discount authors I read in childhood, it would be Kelley Armstrong.

Best Sequel Ever:

Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta – I liked Finnikin of the Rock but the sequel blew me away!

Currently Reading:

Fan Art by Sarah Tregay.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Coffee! I’m also partial to Green Tea.

E-reader or Physical Book?

Physical books but I buy a lot more for my Kindle due to lack of storage space!

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

Gansey from the Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater (I just love how geeky and dedicated he is!) – he totally won me away from the dashing Adrian Ivashkov from Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Cinder by Marissa Meyer – incredible series!

Hidden Gem Book:

Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens – was not expecting to love this book but I was completely taken by surprise.

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

Discovering Goodreads firstly, then setting up my own book blog. I have always sort of drifted from one online community to another, never really fitting in anywhere. The book blogging community has made me feel so welcome – I have finally found an online home. 🙂

Just Finished:

I just finished re-reading Sweet Valley High #1 Double Love – what a walk down memory lane it was!

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m not a huge fan of erotica (especially of the S&M variety). I have read the odd thing now and again (I am willing to give anything a try really) but I definitely prefer my smut to be on the tamer side!

Longest Book You’ve Read:

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien (at 1,193 pages)

Major book hangover because of:

Hate List by Jennifer Brown – this was a really tough book to read and I found it difficult to pick up anything for a bit after reading this.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

5 in total but I have books piled everywhere throughout my house so I really need more. 😉

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

My most read book is probably Watership Down by Richard Adams

Preferred Place To Read:

Comfy chair or in bed!

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”
― George R.R. MartinA Dance with Dragons

Reading Regret:

Not reading Harry Potter when it originally came out. I was quite snobby about it actually. I was too grown-up to read children’s books (I really wasn’t!!), it is something I regret now.

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):

The Mortal Instruments/The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I have only read Clockwork Angel (yep, I started with the prequel series).

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:

1. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

2. Warchild by Karin Lowachee

3. Heart’s Blood by Juliet Marillier

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Maggie Stiefvater – she is a truly phenomenal writer.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

Ashes to Ashes by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian – I need to find out what happens after that bloody cliffhanger!

Worst Bookish Habit:

My total lack of order in organising my books (I used to be so good at this but my books have gotten out of hand), when leads me to my next one…my ever increasing TBR pile…

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

Kushiel’s Mercy by Jacqueline Carey

Your latest book purchase:

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

How to Repair a Mechanical Heart by J.C. Lillis – I just couldn’t put it down once I started…

This was fun – you should really try it out!

    • Thanks! It was a lot of fun – you should definitely do it!!

LOL – I would never shows my face in front of a camera – I am so envious of people who have the confidence to do it!! 🙂

  1. Someone won you away from Adrian Ivashkov?! Now I’m curious!!

As for TMI/TID, I first read, City of Bones, then Clockwork Angel, and I continued that pattern while reading those series, going back and forth between the two series. I found that I liked reading them like that! Especially reading City of Glass and Clockwork Princess, which I read simultaneously, haha!

I just might do this tag!!

    • I never thought that another book character would ever leave Adrian in the dust but there you have it! 😉

Interesting way of reading the series – I would be totally confused! LOL Glad it worked for you though.

You should do it – it’s a lot of fun!! 😀

  2. […] Look I’m not saying that I haven’t really felt like blogging lately because that’s not exactly true. I’ve felt like it, I just haven’t felt like actually doing it. You know? I figured a tag was an easy way to force myself to get some writing done today! So here we go, I googled bookish tags and this came up. (I think, I actually found this a while ago and saved the link but this seems like something that I’d do) I found the tag here! […]

  3. […] A to Z Bookish Survey is hosted by Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner. I found this on Brin’sBookBlog and I highly recommend going and checking out her amazing blog.  I am going to be at my best […]
