Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is:
Beach Bag Reads
Here comes the summer – books that will definitely be making an appearance in my beach bag! I can think of nothing better than curling up with some of these books. 😀 I don’t much of a selection process for these apart from the fact that they are books that have either just recently come out or are due to be out shortly. Most are also contemporaries which I find to be the perfect summer reading material.
1. What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick
This looks like a really sweet, contemporary read – perfect for those lazy summer days! I’ve heard a lot of good things so I’m anxious to read this!
2. Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour
I read a lot of LGBT books but seem to read more m/m. I would like to read more lesbian fiction and this looks like a really amazing read.
3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
This looks like a quirky and fun contemporary read. I have actually been wanting to read this for a little while but have only recently purchased it.
4. Second Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
A modern-day Peter Pan retelling? Sign me up! This books looks right up my street. I like the retelling element but surfing has always been a secret wish of mine so win/win!
5. The Art of Lainey by Paula Stokes
This looks like a really cute summer read. Definite beach reading material! There is nothing like a nice, fluffy contemporary to accompany you on a beach trip!
6. Boys Like You by Julia Stone
I really like the look of this, plus I also enjoy heavier reads during a holiday just as much as I do the fluffy ones and this book looks like it fits the bill.
7. #scandal by Sarah Ockler
This has an intriguing premise and sounds like quite a different type of summer read. I loved Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler so I hope this has a similar feel.
8. On the Fence by Kasie West
This looks like a really cute read – I cannot wait until it is released. I’ve been hearing a lot of good rumblings about Kasie West from people whose opinion I trust.
9. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
I really want to read this book – it sounds like it could be a perfect summery read. A contemporary with a bit of a bite to it – my perfect beach bag read!
10. The Summer I Wasn’t Me by Jessica Verdi
Another LGBT read with a serious premise – I think this book could be very powerful and moving and I am keen to read it asap!

This is a really good list! I decided against making a TTT today because I feel like all the picks need to be contemporary and I haven’t read much/ really know a lot about contemporaries because they aren’t normally the books I gravitate to, but all those book seem really interesting!
I notice that my summer reading does tend to be more contemporary heavy. I seem to focus on fantasy during the winter months for some reason. I used to read very little contemporary books but I read a lot more now. It’s just finding the right books, I suppose. 😉
Ooh I loved Everything Leads to You and hope you do too. I’ve been meaning to read The Summer I Wasn’t Me and On the Fence…maybe this summer! Hope you enjoy all your summer reading adventures 🙂
I am really looking forward to Everything Leads to You – it looks amazing so I am glad to hear that you enjoyed it.
Great picks this week – Landline is one I really need to get a hold of since I love Rainbow Rowell’s writing. I have difficulty getting into audiobooks though so it will be the book for me! 😉
I’ve only read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before which I really enjoyed even though I don’t read too many contemporary novels. Great list this week.
Thanks! I have To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sitting on my shelf so it will probably be one of the first from my list I will read.
I like your list too – Fiendish is a book I cannot wait to come out. I also quite fancy The Murder Complex too. 😉
This is a fantastic, and as always gorgeous list!! Second Star sounds amazing (I love retold fairly tales!) .
Thanks! I love fairy tale retellings too. 😉
Great picks on your TTT this week. Daughter of the Forest is one of my favourite books of all time. I have yet to read The Fault in Our Stars too and The Thief is another book that has been highly recommended to me but I just haven’t got around to yet! Hope you enjoy. 😀
I really loved Boys Like You, it was my first, and only, 5/5 read so far this year! It made my list too –

I can’t wait to read it!
Nice choices in your TTT. I really loved the Raven Boys so can highly recommend that series. I did read the first book of The Wolves of Mercy Falls and didn’t love it but I have been meaning to pick the books up again as maybe I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind for it. Based on the first book though – The Raven Boys is a million times better (it is in my top 5 series of all time 😉 ). The Scorpio Races is also fantastic!! 😀
Everything Leads to You! Fan Art! Yesss, READ THEM! 🙂 Happy reading~
I will! LOL 😉 They both look really good.
Great picks! Everything Leads to You sounds so amazing, as does To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. I have a lot of the same picks!
Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
They do sound great don’t they? <3
I love your list too – Grasshopper Jungle is in my TBR and so is We Were Liars!! Hope you enjoy them when you read them! 😉
