Ten Books that Give Off Summer Vibes
This week’s topic is Books that Give Off Summer Vibes. I’m a bit of an odd duck – I’m not overly fond of the summer (I don’t like the heat and really don’t like the beasties it brings!) and I definitely prefer the cooler months such as autumn and winter. However, I cannot deny that summery books are pretty inviting at this time of year.
I’m a day late with this topic (as per usual!) but better late than never, right? So without any further ado, here are ten books that I think give off summery vibes:
1. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
I haven’t actually read these books yet (they’ve been sitting on my shelf forever!) so I cannot state with confidence whether or not they are perfect summer reads but there is no denying that the cover gives off plenty summery vibes!
2. Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson
This one has been on my TBR forever as well! I have it on good authority that it’s a great book that deals with loss and other issues. It might not be a light-hearted summer read but I always do like a touch of bittersweet even in my fluffy summer reads!
3. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick
C’mon, this cover just screams summer! I really like this cover and think that it definitely conveys a sense of summer romance. The colours are very warm and inviting.
4. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
I actually have read this one (go me!!) Like Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, Second Chance Summer isn’t an easy read (I bawled when I first read it having just recently lost my mum). It was a great read though so don’t be put off my the heavy subject matter.
5. The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller
This book is just so cute and fluffy! I read it when it was first released and was smiling for days afterwards. It really is a perfect summer read and is for sure a book that gives out great summer vibes!
6. Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
I love the muted, yet colourful tones on this cover – it looks like a perfect contemporary romance! The summer vibes are also very strong with this cover!
7. How My Summer Went Up in Flames by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski
This one is kinda an obvious one (the word ‘summer’ is right there in the title!) but I think that the cover for this book very much conveys an alternative summer book – one with a little more bite!
8. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Morgan Matson seems to be dominating this list, eh? I’ve heard good things about this book so it is definitely one I will be checking out this summer. The cover is very summery and even makes me (the anti-sun worshipper) want to get outside and eat an ice-cream!!
9. On The Fence by Kasie West
This cover is glorious – I’m not normally a fan of the trend of cutting off people’s heads on covers but I actually really like this one! The sunglow shining between the couple’s legs is also quite artistic.
10. Alex, Approximately by Jenn Bennett
This one just screams lazy, summer days! It is such a chilled and relaxed cover. I really want to be there in that scene, floating in a pool with no cares or worries in the world… sigh, if only!
