Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality
what I have been up to
Not a whole lot to be completely honest, I’m pretty broke so I’ve not had a lot of money to splurge on books. I know, I know, it’s just the start of the month, what can I say, I way overspent in April and now I’m paying the price… I’ve also had a nasty stomach bug which has pretty much put me out of commission for the last week or so.
my small(ish) splurge
A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas | Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli | The Surface Breaks by Louise O’Neill
I’ve already read ‘A Court of Frost and Starlight’ and I enjoyed it for the most part although I would have liked to have seen more of certain characters. Overall though, it was a good bridge between ACOWAR and the next book. I am so excited for ‘Leah on the Offbeat’ I can’t even… I have been waiting for this for ages! ‘The Surface Breaks’ also looks amazing (and what a stunningly beautiful cover.
Alive by Sharon Bolton | Beyond A Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake | Famished by Meghan O’Flynn
‘Alive’ and ‘Famished’ were both freebies on Kindle but they both look really good. I got ‘Beyond a Darkened Shore’ in a book box and it looks super-intriguing. I hadn’t actually heard of it before receiving it. One of the reasons why my monthly book box subscriptions are a worthwhile splurge for me – I find so many great, new reads!
Everything Changes by Melanie Hansen | Surviving by Elizabeth Faucher | See Her Run by Peggy Townsend
‘Everything Changes’ looks like a really interesting read (and now I’m totally humming the Take That song!) I have really wanted to watch the TV special called ‘Surviving’ for a long time (mainly because it features a young River Phoenix) but the book adaptation will have to do for now. ‘See Her Run’ was a First Reads choice this month and it looks really intense.
my arc splurge
Smoke in the Sun by Renee Ahdieh | Geekerella by Ashley Poston | Nowhere Else But Here | Rachel Cotton
‘Smoke in the Sun’ – I’m so excited for this! I’m also really intrigued by ‘Geekerella’. So many amazing ARCs this week.
To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo | The Namartielle by Julien Jamar | The Hawkman by Jane Rosenberg LaForge
I seem to have gone a bit mad with ARCs this last week (maybe because I really cannot afford to buy books!) but I got a great selection which I cannot wait to start reading. I am especially excited to read ‘To Kill a Kingdom’ as it looks deliciously twisted. 😉
Rubble and Wreckage by Rodd Clark | 806: A Novel by Cynthia Weil | So Glad to Meet You by Lisa Super
I love the covers for these three books – they all tie-in quite nicely too! I love books with road trips – they are totally my jam. 😉
Daddy Darkest by Ellery Kane | Whisper by Lynette Noni | What Lies Below by Barbara Taylor Sissel
Holy shmoly, but these are some creepy/sinister looking covers – I love them!! They really give off a totally atmospheric vibe that is totally drawing me in.

The Surface Breaks is the most beautiful cover ever. *sobs* <3
I have pre-ordered my copy of ACOFAS but it hasn’t received yet. And wow, you already got Leah. I am so excited for it but it is so costly right now 🙁
And wow, To Kill A Kingdom? I already read it and it is super awesome 🙂 Trust me, it is truly amazing.
I hope you enjoy all of your new books.
The Surface Breaks looks gorgeous – I love retellings. And you got so many awesome books to review! I hope you enjoy them all!
Love the look of What Lies Below! See Her Run and Famished both look great.
What an amazing haul!
I’m about to read book 1 in this Renee Ahdieh book.
I’m yet to catch up in the ACOTAR series.
Awesome ARCS.
