Stacking the Shelves – a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews & Reading Reality

what’s the buzz: weekly round-up

Well, there was a little thing called Christmas that happened this week… 😉 I got some fabulous presents including books, pajamas, clothes, funko pops, mystery minis, rock candy’s, book sleeves, jewellery, gin, vouchers, money… I was spoiled (spoilt?) rotten to be honest. 😛

I had the full week off and have just basically chilled out – eating and drinking (in moderation) to my heart’s content. It’s been a pretty great week. I’ve had time to catch up on my reading (I completed my Goodreads Challenge of reading 120 books yesterday – go me!!) and also gaming quite a bit. It’s been just what I needed after a hectic couple of weeks.

I got a couple of mystery book bundles this Christmas (I did last year too and loved them). I was really happy with the selections. Some new (to me) books plus a couple of old favourites – can’t complain at all.

Silver on the Road by Laura Anne Gilman | The Cold Eye by Laura Anne Gilman | Counting Backwards by Laura Lascarso

I got the above books at a discounted price so that was pretty awesome! I have wanted to read Counting Backwards for ages (I love the rest of Laura Lascarso’s books) so I’m really chuffed to finally be able to read it. I also picked up the first two books in The Devil’s West series – it  looks pretty darn intriguing too…

The Voice on the Radio by Caroline B. Cooney | Whatever Happened to Janie? by Caroline B. Cooney | What Janie Found by Caroline B. Cooney | Emergency Room by Caroline B. Cooney | Driver’s Ed by Caroline B. Cooney | Twenty Pageants Later by Caroline B. Cooney

I was waiting for this lot of Caroline B. Cooney books coming from the U.S (an eBay buy, natch) so I was really happy they turned up just before Christmas (Christmas Eve to be exact).

The Rubadub Mystery by Enid Blyton | A Stable for Jill by Ruby Ferguson | Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi | The Sword in the Stone by T.H. White | Lights Out by Bernard O’Keane | Twisted by R.L. StinePride and Penalties: Hotshots by Terence Blacker | The Twins at St. Clare’s by Enid Blyton | Rex Milligan’s Busy Term by Anthony Buckeridge

I got some of these (the Enid Blyton, Ruby Ferguson, T.H. White, Carlo Collodi, Anthony Buckeridge books) via a mystery bundle at Bookishly. I really liked the ones I got last Christmas so I decided to get another bundle again this year – I wasn’t disappointed! I also got the Hotshots book from Prudence and the Crow (via their annual Yuletide bundle). Lastly, I picked up a couple of YA horror titles – Twisted and Light’s Out – can’t wait to get stuck in!

christmas book haul

A Ferry of Bones & Gold by Hailey Turner | The Child Thief by Brom | The Raising by Steven Dos Santos

The list wouldn’t be complete without a couple of Kindle books. 😉 I was really happy to finally get The Child Thief – it’s been on my to-buy list for ages.

for review

Again, not too many review books but I couldn’t resist requesting a couple. These all look so good – I’m not sure which to start first!

christmas book haul

Five Feet Apart by Rachael Lippincott | Glow: Book 1, Potency by Aubrey Hadley | Under the Bridge by Anne Bishop

I have Five Feet Apart pre-ordered (it’s out in the UK in January) but I couldn’t wait to read it! I’m also really intrigued by Under the Bridge. I’ve only ever read paranormal/urban fantasy from the author so I’m excited to see what Bishop does with this one…
