Merry Christmas!

Seasons greetings from my little corner of the blogosphere! I wasn’t planning on doing a post today but I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Christmas was a sad time for me this year as it was the first one without my mum. As some of you may know from my previous posts, my mum died from lung cancer in May. It has been a very difficult 7 months but I am grateful to my family and friends – and especially my partner and his parents – for helping me get through this. I also wanted to thank my fellow bloggers – being a part of this community has really helped me get through the tough times.

Christmas Eve was probably the hardest day as this was my mum’s birthday and we always celebrated it together (usually this would involve a lot of alcohol and singing!). I felt very emotional yesterday and was honestly glad when Christmas Day finally rolled around.

We did try to get into the Christmas spirit by watching an awesome little movie called Joyeux Noël about the World War I Christmas truce that happened in December 1914. Watching the Queen’s Speech we realised the significance of this when we were reminded that this event actually occurred 100 years ago to the day! Anyway, it was a really good film and it also starred Daniel Brühl as one of the German soldiers who I think is such a cutie. <3

Anyway, enough rambling on! Hope everyone is having a good day!

bye for now!

  1. It’s so sad about your mum, especially since she was born the day before Christmas. You’re lucky to have a great family and supporting friends, though. Not that anyone can replace a lost parent, but at least they can make your loss a little more bearable.
All the same, Happy Holidays – and I wanted to tell you that the new banner is really catchy!

    • It has been a difficult time but having so much support has helped a lot. You are totally right – it does help make it a little more bearable.

Happy Holidays to you too! Hope you have a great time over the festive period. 🙂

Thanks! I have been trying to come up with a new design for my blog for ages (it has gone through various iterations!) and I think I have finally settled on a look that I like. 😉
