I haven’t actually done a STS post for a few weeks so this is really a catch-up post of the books and bookish items I have bought over the last couple of weeks.

bought:

Winter is so, so good guys! I haven’t finished it yet but I am absolutely loving what I have read so far. Definitely worth waiting for (and it has been a looong wait). Tower of Thorns is the second book in the Blackthorn and Grim series by Juliet Marillier who is one of my auto-buy authors. The Rose Society is the follow-up to the Young Elites which I haven’t read (yet) but intend to very soon.

I also purchased a couple of books based on reviews from other bloggers. I have seen Omega floating around and decided now was the time to purchase and read it. The Reluctant Sacrifice and Gravity also looked interesting.

I haven’t yet read any of Gabriella Lepore’s books but I spotted them on Instagram and decided to pick up Secrets in Phoenix and How I Found You. Gateway to Fourline was one of the books being offered via Kindle First for November and it looked really intriguing so I thought I would give it a whirl.

The colouring book craze and finally caught up with me. I couldn’t resist the Game of Thrones colouring book and the Animal Kingdom one looked really good as well so I decided to pick it up too.

A couple of strategy guides for games I bought recently. Fallout 4 is amazing so far and I haven’t yet played Remember Me but I absolutely adored Life is Strange by the same developer so I am sure I will enjoy this one too.

This is the purchase I am most excited about however. I am a huge Robin Hobb fan so when I saw that there was a special edition released for the 20th anniversary of Assassin’s Apprentice (the first book in the Realm of the Elderlings series) I knew I wanted to get a copy. Funds being tight, I didn’t expect to get a copy right away but my other half bought me a signed copy as a surprise! It is a truly beautiful book – I love cloth bound editions and the illustrations and silver gilded pages are a lovely touch.

I have been cutting back on requesting ARCs but I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of books that looked interesting. I was really drawn to Finding Hope because of the cover to be honest. I love the minimalist look. I also really like the look of Beautiful Broken Things. I didn’t realize The Silver Tide was the third book in a series but it just means I have to look out the other two books first!

I love Alice in Wonderland retellings so Alice Takes Back Wonderland instantly appealed to me. The Darkest Secret looked really interesting too.

other purchases:

purchases

I was over the moon to receive the first Illumicrate box. You can see my full review of this subscription box here. I also picked up some bookmarks from HappyHelloCo – here are mini Feyre, Tamlin, Lucien, and Rhysand from ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ by Sarah J. Maas! Aren’t they adorable? I love my new ‘Mockingjay’ necklace from My Clockwork Castle too!

I got some gorgeous prints from AbbieImagine which I had to get framed right away! I loved the poster which came in the Illumicrate box so that spurred me one to finally buy some of Abbbie’s prints. I have admired her work for a while. I also bought another Funko Pop Vinyl figure. This Poe Dameron (I love me some Oscar Isaac!) was an exclusive to Walmart but I managed to get a hold of one! I also purchased this lovely little ‘Books before Boys’ necklace from The Literary Emporium which I really love (pictured with my little mice earrings which I am also in love with).

Some of my Fallout 4 swag – I really love the game so far and I was as pleased as punch with my Steelbook edition and walkthrough. I also got a Pip Boy bobble head which is super-cool. I also bought a ‘Dimitri Belikov’ T-Shirt from BadCatDesigns via Redbubble. It was originally a gift for a friend but I got the size wrong so ended up keeping it for myself. I am more of an Adrian girl but Dimitri is cool too! I also bought a couple of items from Out of Print. I love my new ‘Pride and Prejudice’ tote and the ‘Poe’ pouch is absolutely awesome!

purchases 2

I have been doing a LOT of shopping at My Clockwork Castle recently. I bought this ‘Dainty Bejewelled Steampunk Pendant’ which I absolutely adore! I also bought the above ‘Teal Shimmer’ earrings and the cute little ‘Creepy Cobweb’ necklace (this was a Halloween-themed piece which is no longer in stock). I also picked up this gorgeous ‘Alice in Wonderland’ charm bracelet and a ‘Jane Eyre-inspired birdcage’ necklace too!

I also bought a ‘Sugar Skulls’ locket from Fallen Saint which I am head over heels for! And… I finally caved and got myself a Blu-Ray copy Torchwood (so many people have raved about this series to me) and a cute little Garrus Funko Pop too! I also love this cute little ‘Six of Crows’ pin and my new ‘Books Before Looks’ pocket mirror from Raspberry Finch. Both came in the Illumicrate box.

Hope everyone had a great week!

  1. I love the coloring books that you got. They are so much fun to do. I love doing them myself as well. You got some books that I hadn’t heard of before. I’m still waiting on my copy of Winter to arrive.

I am totally loving the adult colouring books – it brings me right back to childhood! I loved colouring when I was little and it’s a great way to relax. 🙂

I hope your copy of Winter gets to you soon – it really is a great read. Enjoy the rest of your books!

  2. You had a great haul. I hear wonderful things about Robin Hobbs books but I haven’t read one yet. The collectors edition sounds awesome. I am getting my husband a PS 4 for Christmas and I think I may grab Fallout 4 as well.

Thanks Barb! Robin Hobb is an amazing writer – I cannot recommend her enough! Her original Assassin’s trilogy is pure masterclass. 🙂

Fallout 4 is awesome – I would definitely recommend it. 🙂

  3. You’ve gotten so many amazing things this week. Can’t wait to see how you like the new books on your list.

I keep seeing everyone buying these book boxes. I’m definitely going to have to check these out and see which one is good for me!

Hope you have a great week!
