what’s the buzz: weekly round-up and book haul

I finally got to see Tolkien this week – I really enjoyed it but I’m still not sure how true-to-life it was. No matter, it was still a pleasant way to pass a few hours! 😉

Apart from that, not much going on at all – living the quiet life as usual. As for blogging, well it’s not been a great week (understatement!) I was happy to see the UK cover of Wayward Sun finally unveiled a copy of days ago – it’s absolute perfection! I am definitely going to try and collect all the different editions because they are all just… 💜💜

The Sandman’s Eyes by Patricia Windsor | Dance On My Grave by Aidan Chambers | The Son of Someone Famous by M.E. Kerr | I Stay Near You by M.E. Kerr | Snake Inside by Lisa Tuttle | The Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce | Children of the Dust by Louise Lawrence | Dear Nobody by Berlie Doherty

Quite a few vintage titles this week; happy to add a number of Pan Horizons titles to my growing collection! Also a couple of Lions Teen Tracks titles – a good haul this week, for sure. 😉

Maurice by E.M. Forster | A Spring Harvest by Geoffrey Bache Smith

I’ve been meaning to buy Maurice for absolutely ages – I do the the Merchant Ivory film (with a young – and smoking hot – Rupert Graves!) I also got curious about Geoffrey Bache Smith’s poetry after watching Tolkien this week. Looking forward to reading both of these.

Finale by Stephanie Garber | The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

I actually got the special edition Finale from Fairyloot but I didn’t want to post a photo of the book as I’m conscious that some people haven’t yet had their boxes (and don’t want to spoil anyone – but suffice it to say, the edition is gorgeous!) I also already have The Priory of the Orange Tree but it is a beast of a book so I picked it up on Kindle for ease of reading haha!

The Drowned Girls by Loreth Anne White | The Lullaby Girl by Loreth Anne White

I don’t know too much about this trilogy of books but they were going for £0.99 each on Kindle and I’m in the mood for some crime fiction so they seemed like a perfect fit.

The Girl in the Moss by Loreth Anne White | A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe by Alex White

I am really looking forward to reading A Big Ship at the Edge of the Universe – it sounds so amazing! That cover is to die for too!

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella | The Last Piece of my Heart by Paige Toon

Some chick-lit! I’ve really been enjoying contemporary romances lately so these look like the perfect reads for how I’m feeling just now!

The Mermaid by Christina Henry | Qualify by Vera Nazarian

I have been itching to read The Mermaid since it came out so when I saw it going for £0.99 on Kindle I just knew it was time. 😉

Felix by Elizabeth Reyes | Sofie by Elizabeth Reyes

I’ve read (and enjoyed!) the rest of the 5th Street series, so imagine my consternation when I realized I hadn’t yet read Felix! As an added bonus, this is actually up for free on Kindle right now – just saying… 😙
